We are in the midst of a modern day plague. At the moment there is no known cure. Talk is there will not be a vaccine any time soon. I will be shocked if any sports are played the rest of the calendar year. I hate it, but...........desperate times call for desperate measures.

Athletes have families. They have young children. That should be priority #1 for every one of them.....our amusement shouldn't even rate.

Anything dealt with any kind of contact is going to bring in risk.

If the HCQ/Z-pack combo (just fast-tracked through FDA approval) works, you may see it faster than expected.

If the season is scrapped, what about home and home series. Auburn is to play at UGA and Bama in 2020. Would they come to Auburn in 2021 or would Auburn travel there?

Modern day plaugue? Lol. Look at the mortality rate of the plague vs this.

we are less than a month into this thing. Two Tues. ago we were at 7550 known cases in the U.S.. Currently we are at 142.4K. The world death rate is 18% on closed cases. If this isn't a plague, I don't know what is.

ETA You do realize the Black plague was in the 1300's, right? Medicine at that time was putting leaches on you.

You can’t compare death rates of a disease during a time when it was common medical thought that illness was caused by “evil vapors” or miasma.

I think the NBA/NFL will be the only sports played. Maybe MLB. I don't think we'll see College Sports this fall unfortunately.

Yeah I’ve resigned myself to the fact that there is no college football this year. Just don’t see it happening.

It's natural to focus on worst case scenarios.

I think cfb will be played next year, it may be modified somewhat (maybe 10 games instead of 12). Too early to tell about the crowds but September is a long time from now, especially considering y'all said yourselves how different things were just a month ago.

I don't think college students will even go back to campuses in August either. This virus is a complete game changer is so many ways.

The simplest thing would be to just stay on schedule. Which means Georgia will be playing at Auburn twice in a row again but that's secondary now. Like many others here I suspect this season is gone.

On the bright side, we will get to enjoy our beloved LSU Tigers as National Champions for TWO years.

Empty venues = no home field advantage but would be okay as long as the event happens. Don’t see how that would help school revenues much though.

It would not. It would be a huge cost burden.

Just the scale of logistics involved on this nation-wide, it's not like the NCAA can wait until early August to make a decision.

This season is not going to happen.

Just wait and see.

It took then 3 days to cancel the spring seasons. Why make a decision now on football?
