However, figuring out which programs were good and which ones weren't is pretty easy using the AP Poll as a major data point.
Excellent point.
Your OP did a nice job of sorting out the wheat from the chaff.

Love to see a football one since integration, whenever you deem that date to be.
I've done it for the Big 6.

Yea I remember that - really good. I'd like to see it on a national level like Kyle did here.

Yea sounds like 1973 kills 2 birds with 1 stone
Weren't there major changes to blocking rules around '73-'75? I seem to remember that's when they disallowed blocking below the waist.
Generally, I've used 1970 as the start of the post-integration, modern era for CFB.

So one quick formula is to do simply AP Poll Points with a Bonus for a National Title.
1st Place AP Finish = 50 points (25 + 25 for the Trophy)
2nd Place AP Finish = 24 points
3rd Place AP Finish = 23 points
... all the way down to a 25th place finish being worth 1 point.
Since 1973, the football rankings look like this:
1. Alabama- 886
2. Oklahoma- 747
3. Ohio State- 718
4. Florida State- 637
5. Nebraska- 622
6. Michigan- 607
7. USC- 606
8. Miami- 580
9. Penn State- 542
10. Florida- 534
11. Notre Dame- 482
12. Georgia- 451
13. Texas- 433
14. LSU- 417
15. Clemson- 412
16. Auburn- 399
17. Tennessee- 325
18. Washington- 290
19. UCLA- 276
20. Texas A&M- 266
21. Oregon- 238
22. Virginia Tech- 215
23. Colorado- 215
24. Arkansas- 209
24. Wisconsin- 209
Other SEC:
44. South Carolina
45. Missouri
50. Ole Miss
51. Mississippi State
62. Kentucky
89. Vanderbilt
I think it could be developed further, but just that formula gives you a pretty good idea without spending too much time.

I'm surprised A&M is even that high. I'm even more surprised that A&M is above a school WITH A FINAL FOUR APPEARANCE.

Like I’ve told these millennials....Arkansas at the least is a Top15 All-Time program. ...even more so if you include all of the Hog’s history. Thanks OP...Great work as always!

To me, just making it to the Final 4 is big accomplishment.
Exactly. People forget that Final Four entrants are given championship trophies by the NCAA for winning their respective regionals.

Unlike College Football which has the AP Poll to go off of back to 1936, College Basketball didn't have a great way to produce a National Champion until the 1970s.
I'm on my phone, so I won't explain, but I disagree with this thinking. Nice ratings, though.

It’s not a bad line of thinking. Only one conference member was allowed in the tournament until 1975. 3 of this year’s Final Four teams wouldn’t even have made the tournament.

The last teams to integrate did so in 1972 (Ole Miss, LSU and BYU were the last holdouts)
Damn, I had no idea that LSU was just as racist as Ole Miss

Top 15 is nothing to sneer at but considering how Arkansas has declined in the last two decades... I really hope the new guy can turn things around.

It’s Humbling to be a Top 20 All-Time Program in all of the Big 3 Sports...
