I’ve never lived in New Orleans or Baton Rouge but all of them feel similar to where I live which is north of shreveport/bossier city
I live in Benton and it’s actually nice here. It’s bossier parish and not caddie so it’s north of bossier not shreveport. The crimes pretty much non existent in Benton . It’s crazy how much crime you get away from , merely by moving 8 miles north
