they're football players. Boo them if you want. They know it's a football game, and that's what they came for. They're looking to play and have fun, not be honored or get pity claps.

This, you aren't booing the person, you are booing the Football team.
Now when someone is being honored for their military service (like at the super bowl last year) cheer, but you can seperate the Service Academies and their football teams.

Also at whoever was dissing Academy Officers.
Put aside your bias for a second.
There are good, bad, and ugly officers from ROTC, the academy, and OTS alike. Where someone went to school has no bearing on the quality of the officer.

I'm all for booing any team that comes on the field in opposition of SC. However I won't boo Navy. I'll applaud when they come out but we won't lose any home field advantage due to it. We'll still be loud when they have the ball and sure has hell boo the refs when they have a call in Navy's favor.

This is probably what will actually happen.

ETA: I want to point out I'm just joking in the mean since.. but you guys should seriously see how bad the service academy kids are after graduating.. it's kinda sad for 5 years or so.. sometimes longer. They seriously think they are better than anyone, take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I worked with these kids for 4 years.

I served with them for 7 years.

The quality of the officer has nothing to do with the school/academy where he earned his degree.

Fortunately this kid isn't the arbiter about which institutions (and denizens thereof) Americans are allowed to show their respect and admiration for.

geez lol. Listen, if giving servicemen respect every chance you get gives you a self appreciation boner, then go for it. No one is saying you're not allowed to.

But don't pretend yourself that booing is somehow booing veterans, or soldiers giving their lives or something. It's football players at a football game. Hell, even the players themselves like booing over the obligatory clap because they feel they have too. At the Army/Navy game, I'm sure they boo the shite out of each other because....it's a football game.

That is honestly why I have a problem with a lot of kids that end up at the academies.. I worked at a prep school, and the preparatory students acted like they ran the whole place, and refused to ever listen to the students that were heading to an ROTC school.. Yet I constantly hear about how going to a service academy =/= a better officer, but if you had listened to all of them, they would have told you it made them gods.

Would LSU fans still throw piss balloons if they played a service academy?

All of them? really? I'm in the military, and I know quite a few quality officers who are both from the Academy and not stuck up about it. There is also plenty of bias from non academy officers against academy grads, it works both ways.
It really has no effect on the quality of the officer.
TLDR: there are douches on both sides, and quality officers on both sides.

It might have just been the area I was from as well? There was a whole lot of animosity on the side of the prep students.. iono, it was like they felt that they were just so much better than the officers that got their rank after only 2 years.

Not all the service academy officers are from prominent upbringings. My brother got in without having any political or military connections. He got in by busting his arse in school and in athletics.

As for the guy that said they won't be infantry leading people into battle, Many SEALS, Rangers, and Delta Force come from the Academy. Also every infantry unit has an officer, many of which come from the Academy.

I think booing the opposing team is dumb. Just cheer for your team. And you should not boo a military school.

As a previous poster said, what about a school like VMI or The Citadel? They are military schools. Do you boo them?

There are many more doing so much more right now and will go through just as much shite or more than those players.

Sounds like someone caught their SO at the O Club looking to trade up...
