The Armed Forces (including the Academies) should always be shown respect and appreciation.

Just my singular opinion.

this is what i meant, obviously.

I understand that when you are talking about the posters on your other forum, that the majority are very young, however I can't imagine why this is even up for discussion. If a stadium full of cock fans boo them, you will embarrass the SEC and college football in general.

go ahead and boo them. it's not like all of the players who graduate won't be officers aka not infantry putting themselves in the actual line of fire. plus it's the navy it's not like you're playing army or the marines. yes i would boo air force too.

I was meaning cheering/booing/nothing as they took the field. Not during the game.

Yall do realize at the moment they haven't done anything for the USA? Yes, after they get done playing they will serve just like a million other people in the the military. They will all be officers too, and hopefully some good leaders. I've done route clearance in Afghanistan and it seems people think between games these players go overseas and do some shite. They go back to school and have their entire day structured. Yeah, it sucks arse I'm sure but it's a lot different than the real thing.

So, moral of the story, boo their asses

Cheer? Where is the home field advantage? I say just do nothing, and then if you pass them on the sidewalk, shake their hand and say thank you.

You do realize that there is a definite likelihood that some of those kids you're watching on that field playing for the service academies will likely be resting in Arlington National Cemetery in a few years while your school's football "heroes" are earning thousands/millions of dollars in the NFL? Right?

You shouldn't boo the Naval academy, for sure.

Dumb post is dumb. You do realize that they gave up a "typical" college experience to devote themselves to becoming leaders in our military (Navy and Marine Corps). They are preparing themselves to lead men into battle.

If you looked at the numbers the enlisted have many more deaths in war (obviously more of them though) and 80% of people overseas are FOBBITS to the MAX.

Example, stopped in Manas and the Air Force people there were getting combat pay.
At Manas you can't carry a weapon around but they get combat pay. We have to have a weapon and ammo on us at all times at my fob.

Give them a standing ovation to them as they come on the field and as they exit the field. Cheer passionately against them while the game clock is live.

I don't understand why this would even be a debate.

Obviously. Booing kids preparing to lead in military service is in poor taste.

Thanks for your service but I sense a little bias against officers. Perhaps you should have applied for one of the academies.

That's their fricking choice too and they need to live with it. Very few will ever lead their men in to battle. I did the same fricking thing but have actually been in BATTLES as a medic in a route clearance company in 2010. Yeah, I haven't had the same college experience either, it's taken 2 and half years of my time with training and deployment but will graduate in 7 semesters. That was my choice.

Lot of patriotism going on in this thread lol.

It's a football team, boo them as they come out if you want. They know it's because they are the visiting team. It's football, not some ceremony. You think the army fans and navy fans boo each other when they come out?

Absolutely correct.

Yet the junior officers (Army infantry and marine) inevitably go out on patrol with their units.

Oh, and being an officer on a flight deck ain't a safe job. Being an officer in a cockpit ain't a safe job. Being an officer in a tank ain't a safe job.

If you want a safe job, get a degree in journalism.

Yes, I do realize that. Like I said, I just say do nothing. I am not going to boo, I just find it hard to cheer for any other team but the Gamecocks. And I will gladly shake their hand and tell them thank you on the street.
