Enjoy him, Aggies.

Would've loved to see him at Nebraska.

One of the worst ADs in the history of college athletics.

Pitt fans should be thrilled.

Don't know if I'm off-base with this, but I think it brings in more viewers. Casual sports fans, at least the ones I know, don't care much for defense. That goes for any sport.

And I think the NFL has realized this, at least a little bit, with the abundance of new defensive rules.

More points, more viewers, more money.

Marrow would KILL it at Youngstown. Ohio kids love him.

I don't know if this will lead to a National Championship. No one does. College football is unpredictable. But the hire has been made and I'm going to support the guy.

As a Nebraska fan, I love this hire. Was unsure when it first broke, but like many others, the more I read about him, the more I like.

Couple factors.

1) Comparing success at Oregon State to Nebraska is 100% apples and oranges. Nebraska is THE only program in this state. No more big brother Oregon to be overshadowed by.
2) Riley was making $1.5 at OSU. He'll absolutely get some kind of raise, but I highly doubt he's going to ask for $4 mil+. A non-money hungry coach means more money for assistants. Don't underestimate that. Ask Bret Bielema.
3) It's a complete culture change for the program. The team had adopted a "us against the world" mentality and it was toxic. Riley is also the complete opposite of Pelini in terms of personality. He's not going to flip out on the sidelines, and have more focus on a negative attitude than the actual game itself. He's going to win the media, not push it away like his predecessor did.
4) A million times better facilities and fan support.
5) More nationally known recruiting. No doubt that it's not easy to recruit to Nebraska and it never will be. But with more resources comes more opportunities.
6) it reopens our Texas pipeline. That cannot be understated.
7) Development. He's known as one of the best talent evaluators in the country, and also one of the best in terms of development. When there is no natural recruiting base in Nebraska, you have to develop those walk-ons, those low 2-3 star kids from the 500 mile radius. There wasn't a lot of development under Pelini.

Is it the home-run hire that fans wanted? No.

Are there questions? Absolutely.

But it's a safe hire. And could grow even better depending upon what he does with his staff (Coach O?)

There were questions with every other candidate that was rumored.

In the end, I love it and I'm excited for the future.
Pelini's scheme is perfect for the Big 12 or the NFL. Very good against the pass.

However, it's not good against the run.

Y'all can do better.

Was going to add that. I agree.
22-3 in his two seasons so far.

Top 15? 10?

Or do we need to wait a full four year cycle to fully judge?
Here's my issue with the Bielema rumors: Shawn Eichorst plays things incredibly close to his chest. No one had any idea that he would keep Bo last year, everyone assumed he was gone. No one had any idea he would let Bo go this year, it was at best 50/50.

I have no inside sources and I'm not trying to claim to be an expert by any means. I'm just going by what I've learned from Eichorst so far.

He's conducting this search by himself to prevent leaks.

I'm not believing anything until it comes from his mouth, and his mouth only.
Joe Kelly vs Shelby Miller on Wednesday night. Were the Best Man in each others' weddings.

Awkward.

I just have questions about the rotation depth going forward.

Chavez already has more IP than any other season in his career.
Gray's first full year.

Kazmir and Milone will be fine. Brad Mills has been OK since being acquired for $1 (serious), and Pomeranz will be back.

But they are an injury away from trouble. I suspect they'll be addressing this at the deadline.
Wonder who gets called up with Gattis going to the DL.

Jaime?

I apologize for the late reply. These are awesome. Thank you both very much.

i havent seen indiana play this year but that catcher they have is legit.

Went to the Indiana-Nebraska game. Hoosiers are most definitely legit. He absolutely demolished a home-run, went over Nebraska's bullpen in RF.

Sam Travis, Dustin DeMuth, Schwarber... all of those guys can mash. Top to bottom, really good lineup. I'd put them against anyone in the country.

Questions about their pitching, though. Top two starters Joey DeNato and Christian Morris are good, but don't know if they have a #3 starter that will worry anyone. We'll see.
