Listening to the Oklahoma players cheering as Texas lost was quite funny

8 mile long runs might even go up as the summer progresses (might be 9 miles, or 10, or 11 as the summer progresses, etc.), it's fine, that's a good training model, she will be good and this is the correct training. Like a poster said above, the 5k is a hybrid run with anaerobic and aerobic, so she needs to do some endurance stuff to get her endurance up.

Also the great thing about training during the summer in the South - you are gonna be miserable, and recently I've gotten into the mindset of "train to be miserable, because then you won't be surprised when you are miserable on race day and can push through without issue".

The temps are great in Birmingham but the humidity can die

Poor choice in wording here.
You might avoid that particular activity for a few days...

I mean, you get a doctor's note to milk it 10 times after the surgery as fast as possible, just sayin'

Of course the internet reveals it’s not as safe and easy of a process and it might appear. There are quite a few stories of guys getting a vasectomy and having painful erections for the rest of their lives.

1) Probably BS
2) Don't do any physical activity for like 72 hours after the surgery, don't be an idiot, also use it as an excuse for your wife to actually take care of you, watch TV, play video games, whatever you want to do, you are taking a bullet for the team, milk it for all it's worth.
3) Repeat #2, seriously, all complications I've read about are because some moron actually decided to do physical activity, or lifted something, or just straight up something very very stupid after the surgery.
The Hanes family are absolute monsters. I don't understand how am entire family can be so good at so many things, it's ridiculous.

Also Oats I know, you should know I know, I made fun of her cheesecake comment earlier as well. The thing is, that woman doesn't know, and it's kinda sad that a number bigger than 0 see her post and think of her as an inspiration. I love the running community, but the running community is filled with Charlatans. I make fun of Goggins, but at least Goggins is real

what does a person that runs a 5k at 13:30/mile need with compression legs?

HOW DARE YOU!!

There would be so much leakage coming out of those compression boots, completely useless for her but whatever

The gorilla on Mantz's back for the last mile was real, geez haha

I assume Conner is the USA's best bet to get 1st place against the Kenyan competition at this point for the next few years?

BYU has really taken over the Endurance scene for the US. More proof that training in higher elevations make you the best you can be - I'm moving to Colorado

She says she’s celebrating with cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory

Burns 400 calories on her run - eats 1,600 calories to celebrate. Some people can't be fixed...
A pretty significant marathon was cancelled this morning: the Carmel Marathon was cancelled due to bad weather, I bet it's absolutely devastating to some people, that's a pretty big "BQ event" for a lot of people.

If you platinumed the game, you did this.

Not necessarily, remember the game allowed you to buy achievements in game, so you could have purchased it (though I don't know why you would have ..)

Just ran a mile sick as heck with my nuts flapping in the breeze. 10 y/o 2 inch in seems tyfys

The shorter the shorts the faster you run right?!?! I did my 5k PR in 4 inch shorts, next year I'm going down to 2 inch shorts - need to knock another 30 seconds off my time

40oz of tailwind but I probably have enough fat stored for 30-40 miles.

I just did 5 Recovery. Probably my last recovery before Illinois.

A person that is very very thin has enough fat reserve to "keep moving" for like 20 days.... If you can keep your heart rate super low (like Donut did with a whopping 120...) you can kinda keep going without fuel for a very long time.

Is it ideal? Absolutely not, but it is possible

Been running for 10-11 years. Been going 50-70+ miles per week the last 2-3 years.

I would definitely take carbs and drink water during a marathon. Have not raced one yet. Not training for one until probably next year though.

Good for you, crazy that you've been doing that kind of mileage but never raced a marathon. You could probably pick a smaller marathon and set a course record on it with your aerobic base

Alright boys here we go, hopefully I'll be checking back in in 4 hours or so and still living

Hopefully you aren't in a dark place right now  you got it!

How's your taper going to look?

Workout this Tuesday, Small Run on Thursday, 10ish miles on Friday or Saturday.

Then 4ish miles the next Tuesday, 3 Miles on Friday, then the Marathon.

I always play taper by ear, and how my body is feeling / recovering

quote:

You should try out my idea. Add a 5 hour energy about halfway through your marathon. You should peak right at the mid point and be on a caffeine high till the end.

I should peak around the halfway point but I would be either be DNF'd due to a blowout and embarrassment or in a Porta potty
