He hasn’t yet…. We’ll see what can be accomplished this season. I’m the last person to try to breakdown basketball, but I have enjoyed watching this team play ball.

He's been awesome. Just another example of the league finally taking basketball seriously and committing to putting a quality product on the court.

As an aside, it's also refreshing to see a coach with a little edge to him. I think a lot of us older fricks really appreciate that. The sports world is too soft. We need a little more "hate" in the conference in all sports. It makes the games way more enjoyable. It makes the conversations between fanbases more fun.

People hate Nate Oats for the same reason they hated Steve Spurrier. He's got an edge to him and you can see on the sideline that he wants his team to annihilate your team.

Basketball has a pretty random championship model that introduces more possibilities for bad nights and bad matchups. All you can do is keep on aiming for a top 4 seed and hope for the best. Oats seems to have a model for producing those types of teams in the eyes of the committee.

I don't think this years' team has what it takes for a deep run because of the front court. Physical teams in the tournament will deal them a fit. Oats has to recruit a bruiser or two.

But you never know. Get hot and keep getting there and they will break through some time. They play the best teams so theyve seen them before.

Those two are unfiltered and clearly don't like each other.

How’s that “we don’t care about the regular season as long as we make a fluke run in the tournament” strategy working for y’all this year?

So wha? He will eventually with the types of players he brings in.. but as much as arky fans hate to admit it.. wins during the season are fun as hell.. winning the SEC tourney is fun as hell...

The best most arky can do is win a few games in the NCAAs to salvage average or frustrating seasons.. Bama fans have been able to enjoy the last few seasons greatly and not having to sweat out bubbles is awesome.. so FY!!

All of this with a rebuilt roster an a brand new coaching staff.

Most impressive about this year for Oats is replacing his entire coaching staff which left for HC spots in the offseason.

Then only have 2 players returning that are major contributors.

Then lose Bediako to a last minute decision to enter the draft.

This was a deep "rebuilding year" where no one would have thought much about just making the NIT instead of leading the SEC and looking at a 3 seed or maybe better.

Can Bama win an ugly 69-67 game? Cause that’s what you’re gonna get in the tournament. We know they can score in bunches, especially from three, but do they have that enforcer? Bama could make a FF, or they could lose in the second round. That said, that would be true for any team except for maybe Houston and UCONN. Interesting to note that out of nine 100 point games for Bama under Oats, four of them have come against LSU (I think).

AMEN!!
Wimp Sanderson, Dale Brown, and Sir Bobby Knight knew how to get the best out of their teams!

Apparently Arkansas’ backcourt. But hell, the way they have played I am wondering if it isn’t the whole team.

If Oats wasn't successful no one would care. But he does have that nasty side that comes from being super competitive.

As BAMA player, Latrell Wrightsell, found out at halftime this Saturday, when he had zero points. "If you don't want to shoot the ball, I have guys on this bench who do." That's been his message here and it goes out to every single player regardless of stars. Do your job, or else.
