As far as assistants are concerned, Luke Murray would top my list

Maryland lost their coach because of the lack of NIL. Oats isn't going to go there.

I think he is looking for a pay raise.

Well, let's not let the fact that he'd be going to a program that just lost a coach who was very publicly vocal about the lack of funding and leadership sway the shite we're gonna run with. And let's ignore the fact that Maryland just had its AD jump ship to SMU.

Well said. This exactly.

Maryland could be a killer job. Recruiting that area would be easy with the right coach. Incredibly fertile around DC area with prospects.

If not Oats why not Cal?

Yea, I see Maryland as more of a lateral move. They have more history, but sec is just different. I could see him going to the NBA though, the analytics/3 point shooting is more effective there.

Alabama is an all time top 15 or so job.
Currently it is a top 10 job.

SEC brand, performance on the courts, and money continue to elevate the league.

14 bid league.

I’d say in ACC Duke and UNC are better jobs.

Basically... the only school I could see making a push for him that would be a better job would be UNC.

Depends if he wants an easier path - aside from Duke, the ACC would be a cakewalk. The SEC is going to be a gauntlet for the foreseeable future.

Well then Oates would be their man. He has some experience in that area.

I would expect Oats and Golden to get calls from UNC/Kansas level programs should they be looking.

I don’t see either leaving for a lesser program.

I don’t think either is looking g to leave right now or maybe ever, but they will have to say no IF ADs are trying to hire coaches who can win.

He'll only leave for the NBA or a blue blood college job. Why would he leave Alabama? He's got NIL and facilities (sans a nice arena). Maryland isn't comparable. Someone mentioned Michigan State as a possibility when Izzo retires. IMO even that job is a lateral move.

It's Bear Bryant all over again.

Adolph Rupp got a Rolls Royce, he got a gold lighter.

Do you feel that Auburn has made the leap to where Pearl would not be similarly approached for jobs at more traditional powerhouses?

I fully admit to being jealous at how much Auburn has put into it. I really wish we'd have started on our new facility before the costs skyrocketed.

Yes mainly because of age.
