It’s no secret that Auburn, Bama, OU & others all paid players under the table.
It’s all out there if you “google it”
That being said, CF is no longer an amateur sport, probably never was, but is forever changed. I mean George Mason could have won a natty if they had rich folks bankrolling it. It’s like the pros. Who spends the most money the right way, except in CF there is technically no salary cap. It’s the Wild West. As they say in the movie Casino, “ frick you, pay me”

Im pretty sure no one will be fearing the SEC to start the next season after how this ended. Alabama castrated. A&M beat in their own building. Ole Miss physically manhandled.
The narrative will stay that way until SEC programs win big again. And thats a fair narrative in the meantime. I think the conference as a whole is light in the coaching talent department compared to the other P4 conferences, and with the portal you cant just stack talent and out talent people.

I remember Nebraska used to give "leadership"scholarships out like candy before the roster had hard limits so they would have these walk on kids for 4 years just practice running the option and lifting weights then you'd actually have a really good backup or possible a starter by their junior or senior year

What Saban did was build insane depth. He somehow convinced WRs, lineman, CBs, and RBs to come be the 4th string when they could have competed to be the starter at places like Auburn and Tennessee.
That’s going to be impossible with NIL. You don’t get paid to be the 3rd or 4th like you will somewhere else to be the #1
