Post quote where I declared them the best ever. I’ll wait. I posted simply naming the last one that could be comparable to UGA. And the question has been answered and agreed upon by myself and others. Alabama and LSU 2011 and Auburn 04. Can you read?

The rant will not be satisfied until UGA holds the nation’s top offense to zero points and negative total yards. Even then, that offense would no longer be ranked as high, would therefore be deemed “bad,” and the goalposts would shift again.

Yes, but you can't apparently.

My original reply was to someone who WAS shite talking the 2011 Alabama defense; you replied to my response to him. That response was basically saying that if you want to state that Alabama's defense wasn't "as great" because of where those teams fells on the Scoring Offense metric, then you should apply the same to Georgia (which those teams are significantly below the average team Alabama faced).

Georgia may very well end up facing a higher scoring offense average than Alabama did; it may also end up being lower when those early season G5 and FCS games no longer have the big impact either. It can end up being a wash.

You got defensive when I pointed out the flaw in a different person's argument.

I apologize then for replying to the wrong post. You’re a good poster I don’t mean to antagonize or insult the ones like you

It doesn't have the repuation the LSU 2011 defense does, but IMO their 2003 defense was every bit as good or better.

2011
261.5 ypg
4.08 ypp
11.3 ppg

2003
252.0 ypg
4.02 ypp
11.0 ppg

Florida in 2009 was also very good
252.3 ypg
4.19 ypp
12.4 ppg

Somebody also needs to list the 79 Alabama defense. They were pretty stout as well.

What I saw Saturday, I would say they are by far the superior defensive team in college football so far this year. I believe they will shut down the Gators read option which Alabama could not do. But, it makes me think of a few teams Bama would play who had a dynamic QB that would keep them in the games and frustrate that defense. It could happen once Georgia plays one of those teams.

My God, you are getting killed. Someone throw in the towel.

Seriously, the eye test says Georgia's defense is great. No one is debating that. But, your defense hasn't played a great offense so far. Give it time. Your defense will show up against a great offense but right now is not time to make that point. Wait til it happens, op

It’s because people are answering the OP as if I declared our defense the undisputed best defense of all time. When I didn’t and wasn’t even implied. I asked who were the most recent comparisons and instead of providing them, outside of some posters, most felt the need to insult and shite posts as if I had stated unequivocally all others sucks and we god

Although I do admit a mistake the eart saban defense part of my OP 11 Alabama is definitely in the running

I mean maybe play someone at least in the top 25 before claiming this defense is one of the best ever.

Alabama played UF at their place and they were loud, resulting in delay of game and illegal procedure penalties. That said, comparing games with common opponents isn't always indicative of how things will go.

Looking at UGA's schedule, they won't play any outstanding offenses. UF will probably be the best they play. That, though, may be to Alabama's advantage if both make it to the title game, because if UGA doesn't play a good offense till that time, they may not be prepared. How will they respond if they find themselves behind or in shootout? The defense if very good, so far the offense has not been, except for the cupcakes to open the season.

nobody that is very savvy thought Arkansas was a contender. I have said several times the were over rated. I even said UGA would pound them.

Can you link to anyone here saying that?

I don't recall anyone having that opinion at all.

maybe it's because of your numerous personal attacks in the thread. Can you not discuss a topic without doing that?

The 2016 Bama defense had 10 players that started yesterday, including:

2 first rounders up a front
A first round linebacker (and another 1st round linebacker that’s out of the league)
A first round corner
A first round safety.
A 4th round safety thats a 2x pro bowler

They eviscerated everyone and scored enough points themselves that Bama would have been 7-5 that season without an offensive touchdown.

Then they ran into Deshaun Watson

The ‘11 defense was really good but had the benefit of being really good before the RPO era.
