Not sure I can come up with one even remotely recently. The early Saban defenses were good but not like this

1991 Texas A&M. Hindered by a nonexistent passing game.

2011 Alabama (over a full season)
YPP - 3.32 (#1)
PPG - 8.2 (#1)

2021 Georgia
YPP - 3.38 (#1)
PPG - 4.6 (#1)

If Georgia's YPP stays below 4.0 and PPG below 10-14 throughout the entire season then they will have a serious argument for best defense of the modern era.

Ways to go there, though.

Make an objective argument those units were better. I’d love a laugh this morning. Anyone with eyes can see the truth

Make an objective argument for the 2011 Alabama defense? Are you suggesting there isn't one?

UGA is really, really good but it's not like they've played juggernaut offenses to this point. T

Whichever one had one of these in the middle and then slightly smaller versions playing next to him.

Uga

Mount Olympus called and wants their Zeus back. Sorry he won't be able to play Saturday.

Make an argument that UGA has played a good offense yet. I’ll wait.

Sorry this was intended for OP.

Has Georgia even played a team that is a true passing threat yet? Clemson and Arkansas I don't think are even close to being good passing teams.

Never heard of them but checked it out. Some great defensive games but also gave up 35 points to Tulsa and 21 points to Rice. Lost its bowl game, 10-2, lol. Played a bad LSU team out of conference as part of a really shitty schedule.

Come on, SOG. Alabama 2011 didn't have to play 2021 Clemson. You know Clemson is a top 5 team.

You've played Clemson, who is clearly arse offensively, UAB, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas.

Arkansas is really the only decent offense out of that group and I doubt they're top 50.

Your defense is clearly very good but let's pump the brakes a little.

maybe play a good offense before declaring your defense the goat. clemson offense is awful, south carolina offense is awful, vanderbilt offense is awful, uab is FBS, arkansas offense is decent but not great

LSU's 2011 defense was awesome as well. Gave up a few more points but also had to play against some cutting-edge top offenses in Oregon and West Virginia out of conference.
