2 weeks of painful buildup that rivals the offseason idiocy on the rant.

I-10 Showdown

I know LSU and Bama fans are in the middle of a who-can-outstupid-who war in this thread, but Texas A&M fans may have snuck through the backdoor to claim the title.

Just an idea, but what about the "Mardi Gras War!" Seems Mobile started the celebration before New Orleans and they're are those in the predominantly Bama influenced Port City that begrudge
The New Orleanians for making their parades and celebration a bigger spectacle. So, the battle of Mardi Gras or the Mardi Gras War. Thoughts?

Except Mobile is just as close to Tiger Stadium as it is Bryant-Denny.

That's almost as bad as the A&M fan calling it the I-10 battle.

I don’t know if it’s a rivalry, but the first time LSU and Alabama were both in the top 5 when they played was in 2005. Including that game, they have played three 1 vs 2 games and 7 as top 5 teams in the last 15 years and another 3 where they were both in the top 10. LSU is 2-1 in 1 vs 2 matchups. Bama is 4-3 in the top 5 matchups and 2-1 in the other 3.

Has any other matchup in the SEC produced 7 games with top 5 opponents this century?

"The annual disappointment"
"The game only LSU fans care about"
"Just another game for Bama."
"Death Valley will be empty by halftime"
"The only game of the season where everyone cheers for Alabama."

Sorry that these all suck. The LSU-Bama game is just not an exciting "rivalry" to anyone but LSU fans, and the only reason people care is because they are SEC fans that want to see the yearly LSU melt.

Winning 1 game every 9 years doesn't constitute a rivalry.

How about winning 10 out of every 21 this century and holding the second-most NCAA titles over that span?

In two of the three stats LSU has a losing record, with your "streak" being one game by 5 points, which will more than likely be broken next year.

LSU will never accomplish that feat
Against Bama while Saban is there and you know it.

Nice qualifier

Saban is gone in 5 years, max

Sorry, but you are way off on this one!

It's true the game used to be just another game. However, that all changed when CNS came to Bama. LSU radicals burned a stuffed life sized version of CNS and burned him in effigy! Then, LSU
upsets the TIDE in T Town and pronounced their team as the greatest of all time! Sound familiar? Well, The BCS had the good sense and obligation to pair the top 2 teams in tbe country.

So, Bama vs LSU was the BCSNC game. As you already know, the Tide spanked their butts not letting them cross the 50yd line but just once. And only for 2 plays and they were pushed back to their side of the field.

Then several games were looking grim for the Tide but we pulled a win out of the jaws of defeat. Now, this past season LSU won a great victory. No doubt! But, they did not give the TIDE their due. Any Bama fan was sick to their stomachs to see how awful we played. Especially, the unforced errors. LSU coaches, players and fans felt invincible. Thus they showed no class and spit in the face of the most decorated program of the last century and current decade and 1/3.

Not heated! Not a rilvary! Please!

Fine. How about best winning # of any SEC school over that same span?

I never said it wasn't heated, and it's usually a pretty good game.

It hasn't had that "anything can happen" feel that most rivalry games have in a long time though.
I mean Alabama had close to a decade-long streak going against LSU. LSU winning this season was a surprise to most.

Contrast that to Alabama - Auburn, where Auburn commonly pulls the upset despite being the historically worse of the two programs.

Or Mississippi State - Ole Miss, where the "better team" often gets upset - sometimes in a significant fashion.

Even LSU - Florida has been competitive despite LSU often being the clearly better team.

How about this, if LSU can win one game in the next 3 years, we'll call this a hot rivalry. If they go on another losing streak though, can we all just admit that this is a rivalry only in the minds of LSU fans?

Almost no Alabama fans consider them a rival.

Win one game in 8 years and some LSU fans act like they beat Bama every other year...Need to get a grip on reality.

Alabama fans need to get a grip.

3 of the Alabama wins in BR, could have very easily went the way of LSU. Do not act like Alabama has dominated every recent matchup against LSU.
