The Pittsburgh Steelers star broke it all down on "The Pivot" podcast Tuesday ... saying Saban belittled him often -- and he would push back every time he felt the head coach went too far.

"I can take coaching, but, like, it's just a certain type of line when you cross, like all right, bro, I'm a man, you ain't gon' f***ing talk to me like that."

"Don't think you're more than just a coach to me. Don't try to belittle. I felt like I was belittled."
Najee -- who played for Saban from 2017 through 2020 -- said things between the two got so bad, he ended up leaving the school for a few weeks during his last year on campus.
"Last incident happened and I left school," Najee said. "I left school for like two weeks -- people didn't know that. I left school for like two weeks and then Saban sat me in his office."

Harris says they were able to clear the air for good during that 1-on-1 sesh, and "ever since that day, we was rock solid."

Najee was a bit of a hothead. As he admitted in the article.
quote:

So he’s like, ‘Goddamnit, 22, you’re always fighting. Like, it’s always you -- you can do it again. You’re leaving practice.’ So I’m like, frick this deal. We just bumped heads a lot.”

It was in the al.com documentary they did about him. He was admittedly homesick and left to go (fly) back home every weekend. He also said he was frustrated with being buried on the depth chart. He was magically fine with everything his last year when he finally saw playing time. Which was probably the crux of the issue (fights with teammates).

Pretty incredible how Saban can cater to and manage so many personalities, especially ones that have been told how great they are their whole lives and then went to Bama and rode the bench (as was the case with Najee).
Especially someone who's particularly dramatic like Najee.

Always the victim. Figured he had some issues when he was dedicating leaps to rapinoe. Saying that, he was a stud his last year

Najee probably wanted some accountability in a coach and Saban has none.

That or Saban stepped over him after getting hurt in practice.

When my coach grabbed me by the face mask and talked to me like a dog I listened and did what he told me. He was right. I saw this same coach tell a player that was much better than me to not let the door hit his arse on the way out because he thought he was above coaching.

Saban is one of the last old school coaches and I respect that.

He's a pretty good dude. He's definitely got layers to his personality. Which is something I found out watching this.

Some very unique and unexpected takes:
-He doesn't particularly care for fans. He appreciates their support but he seems pretty ambivalent towards them.
-His respect towards Saban really came when he marched with them in 2020.
-He's "off and on" about the 2020 Bama team.

So a guy that didn’t like his coach sucked it up, waited his turn, did his job and walked away with a few rings and a first round draft pick.

Najee seems like an amazing person and highly impressive as a player and man.

Saban isn’t always nice.

But I’ve seen and heard enough from Najee to figure he can be very sensitive as a person. I think as a young man he came to Alabama with a preconceived notion of the state, the school, the coach, authority, and the right wing.

To his credit he made it work.

Then don't play Football.

Don't like having to be accountable.... play for somebody else.

This is a very Najee comment.

He’s a thoughtful guy and I’d bet he’ll see it differently at 35 years old.
