Jimbo had talent at FSU and we all saw what happened.

Congrats. I’ve never seen this excuse used on this board. Finally...something new.

Fact: A&M has the NINTH best college athletic program IN TEXAS
Posted on 2/8/20 at 4:58 am to Hugh McElroy
A&M should never have worse than a top 10 class with all of the talent in Texas. Those years in the 30s 40s....the hell was going on?

Wow! Looks like when you joined the SEC your recruiting got way better

I was listening to the Cover 2 podcast and this year is the first year of recruiting rankings that Clemson has passed FSU as the most talented, recruiting rankings wise, roster.
It only took 2 abysmal years of Willie taggart and a coaching change for arguably the best program in CFB to catch up to them

I’m so sick of excuses for Texas A&M. Eventually you are what are and they are and 8-5 program

Meh. LSU, sure. Auburn, you’ve had plenty of comparable talent.
Sherman left some pretty damn good talent, especially on offense (people forget how good that o line was because they focus on Manziel). Sumlin pulled in some top notch talent, regardless if he was a shite coach and couldn’t develop that talent.

So in the last 8 years the average is 10? And they have finished in the top 10 half of the time. That’s routinely having top 10 classes

6-7 or even 8 SEC teams make the final poll. Your permanent cross divisional opponent is USC, UA has to face UGA and LSU Florida every year. If with consistent solid recruiting you can’t crack the ranking at least 60-70% of the time you are just not good in football. A team ranked in the 20’s isn’t exactly a powerhouse just respectable. I’m not saying championship or bust.

Texas A&M like many others has at times under preformed and over preformed. The last two classes are awesome...so that's bad news for my team...lol...as are the classes for UGA, Florida, Tennessee and a few others we will face.
2013 - 9
2014 - 5
2015 - 11

Don't get too excited. Jimbo is the poster child for doing less with more. He's always had top 5 nationally ranked classes and the resume with that considered is severely lacking.

You don't remember what happened to the 2013 and 2014 classes, do you?

You’re not wrong, but Sumlin lost the team and several of the 5* players who got us those ratings. We then had four years of classes at around 15, then Jimbo, and now we’ve had two classes of around top 5.

I’ve never seen anyone brag about subpar recruiting like this.
The board can’t seem to decide if this is “subpar recruiting” as you say, or an “abundance of talent,” as another poster said.
Personally, I think it’d good recruiting, but not the kind of recruiting needed to regularly beat LSU and Bama and Auburn. The last two years seems to be changing that, though.

The recruiting is good enough to be much better than what A&M has done.
Again I’m not saying Championships, that is too high an aspiration for A&M. Shoot to be a top 20 program consistently. At least do that.

You’re the fan base that consistently champions how talented you are, but then you come here and want a pass for “not enough talent”
And I know you’re a bama fan masquerading as an aTm fan right now but the point still stands

Well, in two years under Jimbo we finished 2nd in the west and finished ranked, then we finished 26. Seems better than expected given the classes that were on hand when he got here.
