I was at that game. UNC lined up with a play to win and Clemson stopped it. Is football played differently these days?

I consider myself an objective LSU fan and I dont have a top 5, but there are two things I know. Nobody is beating Ohio St and Bama is going to beat the hell out of LSU.

1. Ohio State - just plain scary. Still hoping their new coach slips up soon 2. LSU - only ahead of Alabama because of the teams each has played
The "eye test" thus far has lead me to believe that LSU can beat Bama now that the defense has improved quite a bit.
A far as OSU goes, they are "scary" Great offense as as good defensively... Loads and loads of NFL talent on that team across the board. Justin Fields can make mistakes and they will still pound good teams..... and that Chase Young is the most disruptive force I've seen in a long, long time, maybe since Suh or Clowney.

Agreed, except I think Penn State is slightly better than Florida and Georgia (but they would be close games). Penn State is basically Auburn but with a much more competent QB. Franklin would get out-coached by Mullen though, so there's that.

LSU can beat Bama, UGA can beat Florida, PSU can beat OSU. The unknown is whether any or all of them will win against those teams.
I'm guessing Bama wins based on the fact they win most of the big games they play in.

Said the same thing in multiple places yesterday and got downvoted, very sad, many such cases.
100% correct

That did not happen. Even if UNC had gotten the 2 point conversion, there was still a minute and a half on the clock, Clemson had 2 Time outs, and a FG by Clemson would still have been a win for Clemson. With a pretty darn good QB and receivers, a Kicker with range to 55 yds, I like our chances.

Which game did Alabama struggle in again? The only game that has been semi-close in the 4th qtr was Tennessee, and we lost our starting QB in the 2nd qtr and still won by 3 scores.

Why are you SEC fans so scared of OSU? Clemson punked them 31-0 couple years back in the CFP semifinals and the B1G hasn’t scored a point in their last two CFP appearances. B1G teams can’t handle speed ... Not concerned about a team with a rookie coach and a QB that couldn’t see the field at UGA.

"I consider this to be as close to a loss as any of the Top 5 I listed."
We can agree. But Penn St won a close one against Pitt (17-10) at Penn State. I'd call that underperformance as well.

yet somehow Clemson has dropped from number 1 to number 4 despite having equivalent statistics from last years NC team.
Curious
It's because nobody likes Clemson

Because we have eyes and watch games, and this OSU team is clearly sharper and better coached than the Meyer off field issues all the time teams.
They are solid on offense and solid on defense.

Because other teams have looked better this season? Clemson has stepped it up from the FSU game on and are rounding into form for sure

You serious Clark? What team has Bama struggled with other than back door covers late? Smallest margin of victory is 19 against ATMouth U.

This is stupid. That game was in 2016.
Speed? Ohio State may have the fastest team in college football across all positions. Ask the Alabama fans if Ohio State had a speed issue at the Sugar Bowl.

They’re playing other B1G teams - So they’re the least slow team in the B1G. They’re still slow.

You did not, but that was our slowest defense since the Shula era.
