I remember stopping to eat one Sunday at a truck stop in Alabama. Not sure of the year, probably 1980s. Alabama had just lost to Mississippi State. Sitting across from me at an adjacent booth was a family. I remember the father going on a tirade as he read the paper, " how the hell can we lose to Mississippi St". I felt sorry for the family that sat there in total silence as he went on and on.

Strangest thing that I have ever seen, you would think that a family member had died. It really is a wake for them. Strange bunch. Their personal value or that of their lives has always been placed on that football team and/or its coach. Arrogant bunch.
