I just want an offense this year, and at least half the defense we had last year
I think you'll get that this year, at least and offense that makes sense. A great season if AU wins 8 regular season games, makes a decent bowl and actually wins the bowl game to finish with 9 wins on the season. That would be huge and really serve as a building block for the future.

I believe Auburn has a better and more engaged coach now and for that reason is trending upward.

Just saying, depending on how the other teams ranked around Auburn complete their classes will determine where Auburn lands in the final rankings. This, because Auburn’s class is complete or nearly complete.

That said, Auburn generally recruits at a high level, two of their last 3 recruiting cycles have finished top ten.

Is anyone else disappointed that OP didn’t include a Yakoff Smirnoff joke? Based on the title, that was definitely my expectation.

repeating my hot take: Jackson Arnold will put up solid numbers this season and dispel the notion that he’s a shitty QB

his problem at OU was lack of confidence in his OL/WRs

his problem at AU was the clueless idiot he had for an HC

He has talent. He was on a depleted OU team and lost confidence. He had a 1st yr OC who was clueless how to call games.

And some of his fears followed him to AU.

I think he’ll put up great numbers at his new school. Less pressure and not even close to similar defenses he’ll face.

Rooting for the kid.

That crappy Auburn team last year had more raw talent on the roster than this year’s team.

Think we'll have a better record this year with less talent?

That crappy Auburn team last year only lost 1 game by more than 7 points. And that was to UGA for 10 points. Every game was competitive even though we sucked complete arse last year and was led by Hugh F'ing Freeze.

So you believe 10-2 is achievable?

its achievable, but highly unlikely

to borrow a phrase from our HC (Heroic Comrade), this is a “proof of concept” season

and to borrow another of his favorite sayings:

I mean it's behind 6 other SEC teams. Y'all had a top 10 class two years ago and it didn't really mean much.

A Top 10 class may put you near the bottom of the SEC.

Achievable and likely are two very different things...
Yes, it's achievable. No, it's not likely.
