I agree USC is a step down in the basketball world. Maybe Arkansas could not keep up in other ways. Maybe he just wanted a better quality of life.

They took a coach whose team literally and metaphorically sucked dick this year. Your excitement is understandable since you seem to enjoy dick riding.

From his current contract signed in 2021:
The UA would owe Musselman 70% of his remaining salary if he is fired for convenience during the term.
Musselman would owe the UA a $7.5 million payment if he took another job before the end of the 2021-22 season. That buyout falls to $2 million through the 2023-24 season; $1 million through the 2024-25 season; and $750,000 through the end of the contract, including any seasons earned as extensions past 2025-26.
And I thought OUR AD was a lousy negotiator.

I guarantee we’ll end up with someone better than a coach from Cleveland State or whatever the frick. Going to be just fine

He's a good coach, but his tenure here was already the longest he'd stayed at one place.

He and AD didn’t get along. Boosters were burned this year on their NIL investments. He is from California. Wife is from there. I don’t think they liked the pressure of winning at a program as passionate as Arkansas.
It’s a pretty big step down for him in program prestige, facilities, attendance, etc. may be a good fit for him long term, in regards to it being a small fanbase, with not a lot of pressure.

Fayetteville is always ranked as a top 3 area in the country. Maybe he likes the Cali lifestyle better. To each his own.

Beard to Arkansas
Wade to Ole Miss
Feeling pretty confident about the first part, no secret source, just reading the signs, and it makes perfect sense.

He’s a west coast guy. His mom lives in San Diego. That’s a big part of it.

Sounds like beard has already been offered probably before muss left
Posted on 4/4/24 at 3:49 pm to blzr
Beard will be at tStepstone for a year or two before he bails for Lexington.

Beard has most likely known the Arkansas job was going to be open for a while now. Beard is still in contact with Arkansas boosters in Little Rock from his UALR coaching days. They’ve most likely been telling him Muss is leaving and why Beard hasn’t signed the extension at Ole Miss.
