Disagree on Musberger. He was awesome. Enjoyed his calls since the 70's. He called our bowl game against Nebraska when we won the National Championship in 1990 so maybe another reason I'm a bit partial to him.

Now as for Jesse Palmer I agree 100%. He is awful. He tries to squeeze in every possible cliche in the history of football announcing into every game he calls. The guy is a joke. It's like he's some trained robot straight out of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting that can't think for himself. He sucks and he wont shut the hell up. Ever.

Edit to add when Palmer was doing Thursday night games sharing color duties with David Pollock it was unwatchable without the game on mute. The worst of everything crammed into one booth. Just terrible!

Most people here are too young to understand what he did in his career, much less proffer an opinion about it. Brent may have extended his career a couple of years too far, but he is one of the greats to the folks who can appreciate his body of work as a broadcaster.

muh sportscasters

He should have hung it up 10 years ago. Instead he'll be remembered as an old perv who stuck up for a woman beater in his last big game

Too much hyperbole for me. Something must be up to call it quits so suddenly after all these years.

That is a pretty obscure finale.

I used to enjoy Brent, but it's gotten much tougher to listen to him over the years. Especially with football where he can't see the game nearly as well. Very appreciative of his time as a broadcaster though.

Musberger has been a good sportscaster for years and I wish him well in retirement. I thought he was good in the Egg Bowl. Of course when you win, the announcers are always better.

I actually think Jesse Palmer could be very good if he would just shut up sometimes. It is not necessary to talk non stop when you are calling a game on TV. He is just incessant sometimes. Most fans can see what is happening and you don't have to try and tell everything that happens.

Is it an admission of my age that I can easily name all 4 of those from that NFL Today show photo, but I probably would not be able to say who are the hosts of the NFL pregame shows now?

It used to be a privilege to get to watch sports, whether it was football, golf, or even hockey. With ESPN and other sports channels saturating us with sports 24/7 we take for granted a lot of the great announcers that brought live sports into our homes. When we talked about the game the next day everyone knew exactly what you were talking about because there was only one game on. Today there are far too many televised games and far to many shitty commentators. Brent will be missed.

Dam right I'm old.........now get off of my lawn!
