It looks like Ole Miss will keep their first round pick as well. Gunnar Hoglund

Yep, if I got $2.5M today I would retire and live happily ever after with a bunch in investments.

Really though you should never ever turn down 1st round money, way bigger chance you dont see that money again than see it or more later on. Especially as an 18 year old. Certainly some cases of kids turning down $1.5, $2M. $2.5M etc... and getting more later, but a WHOLE bunch more who just flat out flame out or struggle in college for 3 years then sign for nothing later on too.

That value is before taxes. And chasing the dream through minors isn't just super cheap.

Also important to remember that he is a 2 way guy. He could have TJ and never pitch again and still get drafted as an IF who has top level power right now.

Not saying it's always, or even often, the best choice to go to school. He's kind of a unique case with a ton of ceiling at multiple positions, would have went earlier in round 1 if it wasn't known by everyone that he may go to school. The Rockies took a chance on him and got burned.

Most of recent posts have also included Stewart as well. They are in the same class aren’t they?

That's not true yet. He still hasn't decided, but I'm expecting him to go JUCO.

Only people making $50k or less per year would think that. He’d be out of money or close by the time he’s 35. Now, if you double that we may be talking a different ballgame.

Umm. Only a retard could have $2.5 Mil at the age of 18 and have it "run out" by the time you are 35.

Kid could literally live off 5% of the interest and be in the upper class of the US AND that leaves the original 2.5 Mil alone and GROWS....

5% of the interest on $2.5MM at say 10% interest would be $12.5K per year.

Well, it’s clear that you weren’t a Finance major.

LOL wut?

Edit: I see what you did. I thought I was clear in that you could live off 5% interest made on the $2.5 Mil.

NOT 5% of the interest only portion....
