No way any of those guys are hired. State might have to go with an interim coach all next year.

I would love to see a legit SEC team run the triple option. Boom or bust.

You did, Lynn Bowden and Kentucky was basically running it.

Why not interview Paul Johnson if that's their angle? Not a troll BTW...the guys knows the option offense.

First two arent a surprise, but is State considering going to the triple option? That would be a disaster.

Yeah because Troy Calhoun was never an NFL OC and knows nothing about any other offensive system

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be Todd Monken (former USM coach, MSU candidate back in '17)

Otherwise Cohen has decided it's the triple option or bust

It’s gonna be chizik. It just feels like something the AD would do.

Had to scroll down towards the bottom to see how the Texans 2006 offense did

His would-be conference is undergoing an offensive renaissance and he's been running the fricking triple option for ages. That sounds like a bizarre and unnecessary bet.

first two would be good gets but Ark State guy and others are out there. Not sure Gene wants to coach again. Makes a good living without all the head aches.

State has two problems

1-No football coach
2-The AD is out of position by one chair

Having watched what the triple option has done to Techs program, I wouldn’t recommend it. If/when you one day decide to no longer run that offense, you’re basically setting yourself up for a 3-4 year rebuild. Not worth it given what State has been able to accomplish lately

Chiz’ season 4 at Auburn. 0-8 in the SEC, the worse season in at least 60 years. Lost the team, don’t want to rehash all the off field problems.

Great person, knows football, great coordinator.

Ask Georgia Tech how that turned out.

The first few years, they did very well with it, even backed into an ACC CG.

But once all the other teams started practicing for it and planning against it, they got shut down.

It would get shut down even quicker in the SEC defensive arena.

Just look at how a mediocre Georgia was able to shut that shite down 8/10 years.

I don't know what the answer is for MsSt, but the Triple Option is not it.

Triple option would be tough to recruit to.

I think it would make more sense for a program like Vanderbilt that already has recruiting barriers.

You must really hate Mrs State

A small population State with less than stellar HS FB and definitely not enough Academically qualified Recruits to supply 2 P5 & 1 G5 within the State

The Tripl-Oh already scares away talent, why would any AD want that for their FB Program in the SEC where Talent is the most important variable in helping your team win

It was an idiotic decision to bring that garbage to GT, and if it didn't work in the Metro ATL with tons of Talent it won't work in some backwards shythole like Stark Vegas
