MS writer says four coaches were interviewed today in Atlanta

Gene Chizik, former Auburn and Iowa State head coach
Steve Sarkisian, Alabama offensive coordinator and former head coach at USC and Washington
Jeff Monken, Army head coach
Troy Calhoun, Air Force head coach
First two arent a surprise, but is State considering going to the triple option? That would be a disaster.

I'm convinced we are considering him so we can sell shirts that say SARKville

Blake Anderson at Arkansas State should be an option.

I would love to see a legit SEC team run the triple option. Boom or bust. But you will need three talented dual-threats to pull it off. And back in the day the Maroons were decent in the Wishbone — with John Bond, anyway.

It would be a real pain in the arse to plat a triple option team after the LSU game every year.

Calhoun would be a good hire I think

Honestly I don't think that would be that bad of an idea. It might be the best way for a school like State to stay competitive when you obviously aren't going to be able to keep up with recruiting the same level of elite athletes as other SEC school and won't be able to line up man-for-man and match up very well if you try running the same schemes as everyone else

Sarkisian would relapse hard after a couple seasons in Starkville.

Would never work in the SEC. And once you figured that out, you won't have a roster worth a damn for the next person.
At this point, It appears more and more that you did not have a plan and there isn't a ton of people wanting in.

Chizik was horrible without sCam and Bobby Lowder. No thanks.

Calhoun is a guy with NFL experience. I think he runs the triple option because he has to at AF. That doesn't necessarily mean that he would run it at Miss State. I believe he would be an excellent hire in a sneaky under the radar type of way.

I think it would work great for MSU imo. Although, it would take some years to get the players for the system and then if you change systems it take years after.

It would be a pain in the arse at anytime. You just don't see that offense anymore. In the middle of a season to have to game plan and get players ready for it after seeing spread teams every week would be a bitch. A team could be successful and win 7-8-9 games every year once they got it established. But I doubt they would ever sniff a championship.
