You growing them in a lab somewhere? There aren’t many of those dudes on the planet.

juiced radar guns are juiced. I just subtract about 3-6 MPHs when I see the number so I have an idea of how fast they pitched compared to the 90s and early 2000s
they are not juiced, way more accurate and measure out the hand
the ones for the 80-early 2000s were dog shite. measured as the ball crossed a certain time point and were inaccurate AF. One fastball might be 99, next 84. hell you can go watch some nolan ryan footage and see this.

I cannot believe you are this stupid. The reason people are throwing harder is because of the changes in how and WHEN the radar gun picks up the ball speed. PERIOD. Or do you think the ball maintains the same speed from release to plate?
You can’t help yourself can you?

I don’t think the radar gun that measured his pitch speed was accurate. I’m aware of the reasoning that has perpetuated the myth and it’s fun to say Ryan threw 108. It’s like everyone watched the Fastball doc and just ran with it as the gospel.
To put it simply, the fastest pitch ever recorded is 105.5. So I’m to believe that a pitcher 50 years ago, who didn’t have the benefit of modern training, threw 3 MPH faster than anyone ever has since. Not likely
and its been disproven by high speed cameras
and i did and still idolize ryan. best pitcher ever imo and way undervalued due to be on dog shite teams
but he would not have been 108
but to give him credit. he was 25 years ahead of everyone else when it comes to training. Lifted, sprinted, used the football as his weighted ball training, etc
but he didnt throw 108. the guns were inaccurate AF back then

The entire point was that radar guns are different now. It used to be a fricking rarity to hit 100 mph. Now its college players popping 100+, MLB players popping 100+, its everywhere.
You really think the human body has evolved in the past 50 years and that men couldnt sling the rock back in the day? Bob Feller was clocked at 98.6 in the 30s and 40s. Using todays tech, he would have been over 100 mph
laughable you dont think it has evolved due to training advances. even just 20 years ago, pitchers were told not to lift.

We NEVER did those things 20 years ago ....

We long tossed, lifted weights, rans foul poles, ran miles upon miles. We strength trained. Sorry to burst your bubble

Can he throw an off-speed pitch, slice a millimeter off either side off the plate at 88-mph and freeze a batter, hit corners, surgically dissect every MLB batter based on hours and years of study of their tendencies…? In other words, is he a one trick pony or is he a PITCHER?

Arkansas has 3 arms that can throw 100.
One is a freshman

You would think that Tenn pitcher, Joyce who threw 100 recently would be tearing it up in MLB by now

Yup! There was times Marcus Phillips hit 100mph on stadium radar gun, but on TV it showed 97-98. So when I see Sneed throw 101 on TV I can only assume it prolly said 102 or 103 at the stadium.
I was at Hoover. It said 101 on 4 different pitches, 100 on a few more and nothing below 97.
As for the 100mph pitchers. There were a handful of them in the 70s and 80s. They were the outliers. In Ryan's case, proper throwing technique and weightlifting/conditioning got him there.
Keep in mind, as a 46 year old, he was still throwing 96-98 when the MLB average speed of a fastball was around 87-88mph. Odds are pretty good that he is the hardest thrower to ever play the game.
What has changed is more players have been able to achieve triple digit spees with training, diet and technique. Today's training probably doesn't add very much to the velocity of players like Ryan and Gossage who were likely already throwing near their theoretical peaks.

Wish they’d teach these young flame throwers how to pitch instead of just throwing hard. I’ll take low-mid 90s who can paint the corners with some movement any day over 100 down the pipe.
