People usually only remember the overrated offensive players. I'm going to go against the grain and say Craig Loston instead. He was a highly rated but only okay safety.

I liked Kelley and we won a lot of games with him. He was probably UT's most bio-polar QB....He could wow you on one throw and then the next throw was WTF was that?!

Thus his nickname.....Damnit Kelley!!

I'd say Chris Davenport at the top, then Russell Shepard, Loston, and maybe Anthony Johnson. Loston and Johnson at least played a bunch of downs, just didn't live up to the hype. Shepard was just a square peg in the round hole that was Les Miles' offense. Never found a good fit, but has done well for himself in the NFL. Davenport was a 5star D Lineman in HS that never sniffed the field, switched to OL, and still never saw action before transferring out as a graduate to more of the same.

Ryan Perrilloux. The offense hasn't recovered to this day.
Completely ignorant post. RP was the starting qb for an SEC championship game. He might not of won the game, but he also didn't lose the game. RP was not overrated.

Zach Mettenberger. Was never all that great, though we fans should get a pass for thinking so considering what we're used to seeing . He may have had the GOAT college WR tandem
Another ignorant answer. Zach bailed out Les's retarded offense time after time on 3rd and longs. Leading the nation in 3rd down conversion and leading the nation in 3rd and long is a huge freakin deal.

1st and 10 up the middle for no gain
2nd and 10 to 12 run up the middle for no gain
3rd and 11 miraculous pass by Zach behind an underwhelming oline.

TT LSU posters refuse to admit LF7 was the most overrated player in their recent history
Pure hatred post by jealous opponents. LF7 was and is every bit as good as hyped.

He was a good safety. He just wasn't Adams, Landry, Jones or Reid.

Maybe this belongs in the "talented but threw it away" category, but since there isn't one here, I chose RP because of the sheer impact losing him had to the program.

It started a domino effect of having to field QBs who needed more development that continues today. Mettenberger provided a reprieve, but not enough time to prepare a successor (even though this is partly on the coaches).

LSU's is Tyson Jackson and it's not close. How the hell was he a top 5 pick?

Also Craig "Buster" Davis.

Is he in jail or something? If he wasn't overrated, I'd think he would have eventually made it to the NFL
