How did Beamer get the job in the first place? Daddy pull strings? His highest coaching position prior to HC in the SEC was what ? TE coach at OK?

It just seems like he’s overachieving on some lucky bounces. Maybe I’m just being a Rant troll and don’t know what I’m talking about

I think that Beamer is extremely likeable similar to Sam Pittman. But I don't think Beamer is nearly as talented as a coach as Sam.

I do think he has landed a solid QB. And so long as he has that, he will be able to do some damage to some mid teams. Maybe like you said... with lucky bounces and what not.

You also said LSU is not elite, 3 national titles, 4 national title appearances, and 5 SEC championships since Tennessee last did any of those 25 years ago. What is Tennessee?

I don't obsess on teams that we steamroll.
No you are and we know your team beat LSU last year, BFD,...Your program and your fat-arse coach are still considered Mid Tier. Haven't Tennessee still hasn't accomplished anything in 20 years...Last year was luck; Tennessee is nothing more than a slight step up from Kentucky...Get ready for the return to the bottom Orange Aggie

And yes, you are one Obsessed with LSU Alt Troll

Define “bad year” because I think LSU had 2 this century and Tennessee had 12. Also, this past season was Tennessees first 10 win season since Joe Milton was 7 years old. Keep up chump.

I think Brian Kelly is really good, but not elite.

Saying LSU is not elite while pumping up your program who finally made it out of the basement for the first time in 16 years is hysterical though.

He was at Carolina as an assistant before. All his former players vouched for him real hard, guys like Alshon and DJ Swearinger, Clowney, Ingram.

Dumbo Fisher, and it's really not even close, by far the most over rated cfb coach in America.

Jimbo certainly is not worth the deal that aTm gave him, but he does have a championship. When he's done there, he's probably done for good.

Somebody else will likely throw millions at Kiffin for an 8-5 coach.

AU deserves everything it's going to get with Freeze.

Dabo has been a head coach for so long, I don't even remember him as a position coach or coordinator. I couldn't honestly answer that question. I would say that it took Dabo over half a decade to improve as a CEO. I don't think Sam has been given that long, yet.

Ray Tanner is (still) our AD, that's how.

Look I love what coach Beamer has done and think he has us gong in the right direction. But if you go back and look at the reactions when he was hired, the SC fan base was NOT happy. The hire was widely criticized by our fanbase. I think that was because the fanbase, myself included, didn't understand with Beamer brought to the table. While his football acumen with regards to X's and O's might not be the greatest in the world, he's extremally well organized, extremely personable and very good at reading people and understanding how they can help your program. You also have to remember who our previous coach was as well, a guy that was a X's and O's savant, but had an awful feel for the game and was terrible with people. So in that regard, I think Beamer being the anthesis of Muschamp helped him significantly in the hiring process.

So in order to be "Overhyped", you first have to be "hyped" and I'm not really sure anyone is hyping coach Beamer. I think many of the folks criticizing him are confusing "under qualified" with "overhyped". I would somewhat agree with the first one and not at all with the second.

I think this gets confusing because some guys who aren't great head coaches are in fact awesome coaches, just not as the head guy.

Lane Kiffin as an OC? A big YES for me. As a HC? Not so much. Same with Muschamp as a DC vs a HC. Regardless of what Pittman does as a head coach, he's the best OL coach in the nation.

I'm on board with Jimbo being the most overrated.

No one is. It's because he's doing pretty good in recruiting and he participates in our social media videos that he's being thrown in here for discussion.

Tennessee fans just hate Beamer because he's the opposite of their fat slob.

The answer here is Jimbo.

Thats not true. It was divided but a lot of us were very happy with the hire. It was wildly different than previous hires.

He was the WR coach at Clemson that got the job when Bowden was fired. He had zero HC experience, and to be honest he wasnt putting out elite WR's. Right place at the right time for him. He was almost fired in 11', but fired some assistants and picked up Chad Morris and that changed things.

As we both have said... Dabo was in over his head when he was promoted.
After 5 years, he could have been called a failure by a lot of school's standards. But by year 7, he was considered elite. And a few years after that, he was in that runner up spot as a HC just behind Saban. With a great DC and great QB friendly system, Dabo is proof that patience as a program can be rewarded. Kirby says that consistency is the biggest key to long term sustained success. They aren't wrong.

I'd say 40% thought unfavorably of the hire at the time (with 15% of that being pretty vocally upset), mainly because we didn't get a big name. 33% were for the hire and 25% (Well 27% to make that math work) were apathetic and in a wait and see mode...
