Ohio State may be among the most under-achieving programs of all time.

It really is insane how good every OSU quarterback is in college and then struggle to make a roster after two years

Eh

Weaker conference the past few years. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Penn State were OSUs only competition the past 10-15 years and they were barely competition.

Did the list continue? I'm curious where A&M and the others fall

Pretty easy to see why we’ve slipped over the past decade and a half. From 1990-2004 Tennessee had a total of 98 players drafted, including 17 first round selections. From 2005-present Tennessee has had only 47 players drafted, with 10 of those being first rounders.

If anything that list shows me that Clemson has well overachieved.

Ohio State - 2 titles, played in 3 others
Bama - 6 titles, played in 3 others
LSU - 3 titles, played in another
Florida - 2 titles

The only other team with multiple titles in that span is Clemson with 2 titles and 2 more appearances and they're not even on the list.

The top 9 have both won a NC and played for another one since 2000.

Michigan has done neither.

I think Miami did less with what they had to work with.

they've had 2 ELITE QBs essentially back to back and play in an utterly dogshit conference with zero opposition for the title, or even an actual yearly threat to them. Not hard to be successful when you play 1 or potentially 2 difficult games per year.

If our recruiting hadn't completely
sucked from '10 to '13 (13 players drafted) we'd certainly be close and I imagine we'll have that many drafted alone this year.

Bama and the 00-07 players

What was it, 2004, we didn't have a SINGLE player drafted?
Then I think 2005 we had like 3 total. I guess those players we stole from Jax State and West alabama didn't pan out.

Well, like the old saying they dont put you on probation to "help" you.

I don't think it's surprising Ohio State has produced the most draft picks. They're 237-46 since 2000.

I can't believe I'm about to go to bat for OSU, but I disagree.

I think we've let the dynasties of 'Bama in CFB and the Pats in the NFL warp our idea of what success means or what it even should be.

Since 2000 OSU has a pair of national titles, a handful of runner-ups, and 10+ conference championships.

Should they have won more national titles? Sure, I guess. And I'm sure their fans would agree.

But that comment makes it seem like they just haven't won anything at all with all their talent.

It was the 2008 draft, following the 2007 season - Saban’s first year. It was the first time in over 40 years that Bama didn’t have a single player drafted. It’s remarkable what he was able to do with that team.
