What happened to Chris Black, the #8 rated WR for Alabama?

Was taking reps with the first team in fall camp before injury. He was cleared to play in the SEC Championship, but it was decided to leave him on the bench so he could redshirt.

I think Black will be great this year. Can't wait to see him play.

Martellus Bennett is another for A&M, mostly because of the offense he played in IMO. Unbelievable physical talent and seems to be coming into his own with the Giants now

There's a good list of guys we can put down here for this and most of their shortcomings had to do with coaching.

Marc Guillon was rated higher than Aaron Rodgers coming out of HS in the same year and from the same state.

Tyrick Rollinson?
Spencer Region?
Craig Sanders?
Justin Hunter?

Russell Shepard wins this hands down

5-star player who amounted to a couple of nice runs in his career and nothing else

Dorial Green-Beckham IMO

You might want to recheck that. DGB actually had a decent season with no QB to get him the ball. he arguably won the Tenn game for MU.

I hadn't seen to many State posters responding yet so I'll throw one out for them.

Nick Reid - I think that was his name, Croom ran him off (for good reason) but the guy was talented. He and Norwood would have been an amazing tandem.

Edit: Yea, I completely missed the OP criteria.

He falls under the category of "clowns who flunked out".

I'm looking for guys who played a decent amount and had physical talent, just didn't pan out to be as good as you thought they would.

See Winston, Shepard, Snead, Shaeffer, Enrique Davis, etc.

ah hem, let me see -

Larry Kendrick - WR. JUCO POTY, came in under Cut - Never did shite

Brent Shaefer - QB. Ended up losing his job to a walk-on.

Jevan Snead - Tore it up in 2008 only to fall on his face in 2009. Left after his JR yr for the draft only to not get drafted, sign a FA deal with the Bucs, and get cut from camp 2 weeks in, if that long.

Enrique Davis - 4* RB. Huge recruit from florida who ran like a girl scout.

Rodney Scott - 4* RB out of florida who played as a freshman in 2009 but was lazy and had a bad attitude. Transferred to Bethune-Cookman

Frazier and it's not even close.. You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger total bust.

Jerell Harris
BJ Scott
Deion Belue (I was anticipating a ridiculous return man, not a decent corner)

Logan Gray, went from 4 star QB recruit to fair catch specialist.

Marlon Brown, he did have a pretty stellar season until his injury but the seasons prior he didn't perform well enough to justify his hype.

Branden Smith, 5 star cornerback eventually got overtaken on the depth chart by younger guys.

.. that actually played a fair amount for your team? Not some clown that flunked out, more so a guy that was good enough to play or start but never was close to living up to the hype. For example, players like Darius Winston and Russel Shepard would be candidates. It doesn't have to be football specifically.

Pick any running back after Moreno and before Gurshall.

I think Jerrell Harris fits the bill on this one. Dude was projected as a standout and never really seemed to find a home on the defense until his senior year. I thought he actually played pretty well most of the time.

The problem is with so much situational substitution with the linebackers, you have to be top notch not to come off the field. It doesnt help your chances when your playing with three four guys getting drafted in the first two rounds.

To a much lesser extent this is kinda how I felt about Nico Johnson.

I remember seeing him field a punt and though "who the frick is that and why is he returning punts?"
