Proof most Auburn people are dumb as rocks. Yet it's the Alabama people that get the bad rap as inbred redneck sister-frickers with no education, no pot to piss in, and no teeth. I just don't get it.

You have done nothing but bring up the failures on every post.
I don’t believe you want him to succeed.

I do indeed want him to succeed. The question is whether or not I believe he WILL succeed given his record.

CMR had this fatal flaw as well. I've seen it with Gus from the outside. He almost doubles down on what isn't working to prove he's smarter than you. You don't become HBC at an SEC power without a stubborn streak, but Gus (and CMR) need to remember they get paid millions to win, not prove they are right.

Here is Malzahn's biggest problem he is:
2-4 vs Alabama
2-5 vs Georgia
He has lost to LSU 2 years in a row (games he should have won)
He gets both Alabama and Georgia at home this year which is huge. He needs to win one of them BUT if he goes 10-2 with just those 2 losses he is fine. Honestly with an 8-5 floor I would just keep Malzahn until Saban retires and then decide what to do. Obviosly if he starts going 5-7 or 4-8 you can't keep him but Auburn historically is an 8-4 program most years.

I wouldnt mind him staying if he would get his offense together now that we have a defense to work with. Maybe him calling plays will fix that.
Posted on 8/21/19 at 11:24 am to TailbackU
Yea I dont really want him gone but it is time he either starts putting up or shutting up. If he doesnt compete on a more regular bases I do believe he will need to go

Who would they get if they did fire him? Some relatively unknown from a mid major?

It is puzzling, but perhaps it has something to do with the frequent incest, lack of education, widespread poverty and bad hygiene among your fan base

But it should not be. Its just the fans. Alabama is on the best run in college football history. How realistic is it that Auburn or any SEC team would be .500 with them? We were one game away from that. Not a second place medal but what coach in the country has done better against that machine?
Georgia is a disappointment and we had at least one of those games that we just gave away but with the recruiting that Kirby is doing now at Georgia, we should probably prepare for UGA to be a better program for a while. They are recruiting at a level that Auburn is really incapable of doing right now. I know coaching means a lot but jims and joes mean a lot as well. Gus and all coaches around UGA will be fighting a tough battle with them right now while they are this hot in recruiting.
Gus's biggest problem with the Auburn faithful is that he really is a dry, unlikable guy at times. He is doing so many good things at Auburn that are going unnoticed because his failures are up front.
In my opinion, Gus's highs are way better than his lows right now. I do think he was a unexperienced head coach when he came to Auburn and he is finding his way. He is fighting a battle with the schedule that few other coaches have to do and is holding his own while doing it.
But Auburns way has always been "Fire the coach" if we cant beat Alabama. And that has not changed.

So AU fans- is Tailback right in that most AU fans don't want Gus gone?
Why would I want to fire Gus a week and a half before the season starts?
That would be insane.

I agree with this. But I think at some point UGA is going to get busted. With the transfer portal in full effect and players leaving for more PT elsewhere, there are too many stories from coaches and players floating about. The whole shell game with the LLC's and paying family members for jobs that dont exist is bound to come circling around on them. If not, then we really are fricked.

I think losing to MSU, UT, UGA (pre 2017), LSU with Farmer Fran, etc. have more to do with Malzahn being on the hotseat than losing to Bama.

That's a good way to describe it.

This is it for me. Last season to earn back my respect.

Gus is
2-5 vs UGA
2-4 vs UA
2-4 vs LSU
3-3 vs MSU
3-2 vs aTm
That's 12-18 vs your strongest SEC foe over 6 yrs. Gus losing 25 games in 5 yrs has nothing to with Bama and whether he stays or gets canned. Alabama has no bearing on idiotic loses to Clemson/MSU/Tennessee/Wisconsin/UCF.

Y’all better hope it doesn’t circle around on au as well.

Yep. Let's say Auburn goes 11-1 and loses the IB. Guess what? We're still probably in the playoffs. He needs to win the games he is supposed to win and not blow games that were very winnable (Clemson 2016-17, LSU 2017-18, etc.)

This is me. I was a Gus believer for a long time, but no more. I want him to win and I know he can do it because I have seen him do it. But, I have just about lost faith. His OL recruiting may be what ends him. They may do ok this year, but next year is looking scary.
