Kumar Rocker was scratched from his start on Saturday. Vandy lost to Hawaii 3-1. Vandy says just soreness. Always be wary when a pitcher has (fore)arm stiffness, soreness, tightness or pain. It's never a good sign. Mississippi State has gone silent on JT Ginn. Two of the top pitchers in the country.

I get his name Crochet is likely not pronounced like crotchet but it would make for a great 80s nickname like crochet the rocket or crotchet rocket. especially if he is clocked in the mid 80s, like calling a fat kid tiny or a slow kid speedy

Opposite of that

quote:

Crochet rated as Mississippi's best prep pitching prospect in 2017 but wasn't quite ready for pro ball or particularly signable, so he fell to the Brewers in the 34th round. He bounced between Tennessee's rotation and bullpen in his first two college seasons, earning the Volunteers' first NCAA tournament victory since 2005 last June -- just two weeks after a line drive fractured and dislocated his jaw. He was sensational in fall practice, vaulting him into top-10-pick consideration for 2020.

After working with a 91-95 mph fastball and topping out at 97 during the spring, Crochet dealt at 96-100 for most of the fall, and his heater already played better than its velocity because it has high spin rates. His 82-85 mph slider features above-average spin rates as well and his long arms create difficult angle on his breaking ball. He flashes a well above-average changeup at times, throwing it around 90 mph with deceptive arm speed.

Don’t think he’s hurt but Hancock has been off in a couple of starts this year, too. Hope the SEC pitching as a whole is able to knock off the cobwebs and rust come conference play

Absolutely true. In younger ages, there is a cap on the number of innings a kid can throw on a weekend or over a 3 day period. Once they reach 15u, there is no limit. My son is 13u, but a coach from our organization that coaches 16u had his son pitch a 7 inning game on a Saturday then pitched him in the 7 inning championship game on Sunday. Right now, “arm fatigue” has him sidelined from his HS team.

Wow, CTE must be real

To allow your Kid to go by Kumar instead of his middle name after 2004 after the Movie, "Harold & Kumar go to White Castle" came out and to still allow your Kid to go by Kumar, the Dad must be suffering from CTE

I can't imagine a parent in his right mind not doing something about this, even the guy in "Meet the Fockers" knew not to use his given name

Seriously though I wonder how often the Kid has actually eaten at a White Castle

This is why they should allow NIL in College Sports

Imagine:

Hey greater Nash Vegas how's it going, well guess what I'm KUMAR and I pitch for Vandy, guess where I go when I have the late night munchies, you guessed it WHITE CASTLE

For a limited time participating White Castles in the Nash Vegas Area have the Kumar Special, no coupons necessary, just tell em Kumar sent you

calm down folks, it's a joke

You know a few years ago high school ball went to a pitch count as opposed to inning count but I’m not aware of any in travel ball. I’m sure there are some good travel ball programs that protect the kids but just as you described I’m sure there are some guys coaching these kids who just want a trophy and could careless how they get it.

Heard yesterday that JT Ginn is gone for the year. Torn something or other that probably most velocity pitchers have.

Bad management before they get to college is probably more to blame than anything they are doing in the college level. If there were multiple guys on a staff with arm issues then you can maybe look into it. Tough break for Vandy and State but they aren’t doing anything different than any other program.

I asked that and Tommy John is not the solution. I have an opinion but probably shouldn't share it here.
