Muschamp? The "coach in waiting" at Texas?
Why in the hell would he got to UGA?

Do you really see Mack Brown retiring anytime soon? He just signed an enormous contract extension.

If we get Kirby, i would be pretty fricking happy.

REnnie Curran just announced he's going to NFL.
Stay at bama for increased pay with a sick linebacker core and a tiiiiny chance of ro staying, or go to UGA for a shitload of money with no lb core and the top lb gone :)

For the record, a King Air 200 was dispatched from Peachtree-DeKalb last night to Tuscalossa, around 8:30pm. It was scheduled to return at just after midnight.
As of today, it's still on the ground in Tuscaloosa and is listed as "delayed". After looking into it, I've found the plane is owned by Epps Air Service, who charters these flights and UGA has apparently been a client.
I don't think they send a plane and a written offer unless some sort of agreement-in-principle had already been reached. But with the delayed status, who knows.

i don't think alabama will be willing to match that offer. they can just get some no-name for cheap and have saban teach him.

Bama will have a very young defense next year. It would be nice to have a coaching staff in place that doesn't need to be taught.

Interesting that Chavis was Richt's first choice

If I were Kirby I would take the job at UGA. He has gotten more than enough accolades from his stint at Bama. Teams will be lining up to sign him if he can sure up the UGA defense as mentioned earlier. Plus 700,000k?

This is an act of desperation by UGA. It's obvious Richt is doing anything to save his job and that means he's under tremendous pressure to produce there.
I'm not so sure that Smart can create the same atmosphere at UGA due to the difference in Richt and Saban.
This will be more risky to his head coaching aspirations than staying at Bama.

Obviously if he went to UGA and turned that defense around in a couple of years, he'll be a head coach. However, if he stayed at Bama, he'd have the same opportunity. Mullen was able to land a HC job even though it was Meyer's offense.
The main reason for leaving would be $$$ and returning home.

This is getting ridiculous.
nearly a MILLION for coordinators?
If it crosses that threshold Congress SHOULD remove the tax exemption.

Word was Bud Foster was the number one pick, and we offered to pay him handsomely, but he didnt want to leave VA Tech. Then Kirby, then Chavis, that is what I understood. However, all of this is hearsay, so should be taken with a grain of salt.
