Thought there were 32 NFL teams? Oh well, he did well at most stops in College. Good enough for me.
OH...well that makes his offense...22nd in the NFL.

Ryan Fitzpatrick on Todd Monken from a NY Daily News article in Jan of '19:
“I’m telling you: He’s got it,” veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick told the Daily News Tuesday. “He’s got the ‘It factor’ as a head coach. He’s smart enough. He’s a big-time offensive coach. If that’s what they’re looking for, then it’ll be good for Sam.”
“You have an absence of fear when he’s calling plays,” Fitzpatrick said. “As a quarterback, you have an absence of fear. It’s great being able to play with that type of confidence and know that if you make one mistake, we’re not going to shrivel up and run the ball the next 15 times and throw a screen on third down. To be able to play with an absence of fear as a player, not just a quarterback, but as an offense is so important. The way the NFL is going right now with everybody lighting up the scoreboard and trying to keep up with some of these teams, I think to have an offensive mind like that is very important.”
Fitzpatrick, who had a disappointing final season with the Jets, came alive in Monken’s first season calling plays in the NFL. The veteran quarterback erupted to kick off 2018. Fitzpatrick became the first player in NFL history in throw for at least 400 yards in three consecutive games. He threw for 11 touchdowns in the first three weeks of the season en route to 2,366 yards and a 100.4 passer rating in eight starts this season.
“He’s a bright offensive mind that has a good feel for the NFL now and where the NFL is heading,” Fitzpatrick said of Monken. “If you need more proof, look at me. He brought out the best in me and I think he has a way of doing that for quarterbacks. If you’re trying to build a franchise around a young quarterback, I don’t know if there’s a better choice than this guy. ... The guy lights up the room and garners respect of all the guys. You know he’s around when he walks in a room. I think that’s an important thing as a head coach to have that presence.”
“If the play-caller has confidence in you, you can feel it on the headset,” Fitzpatrick said. “You can feel it by the way he’s calling plays. He was so awesome this year in terms of that, especially for it being his first time calling plays in the NFL. It was easy for him. He wasn’t stumbling over words or worried about mistakes or shrinking in big moments. He did a great job with all that.”

He wasn't responsible for the playcalling for the Browns. Your take is ill-informed.

The Cowboys had the nation's No. 2-ranked scoring offense in 2011 at 48.7 points per game. They averaged 5.39 yards per carry as a team on the ground and 8.5 yards per pass attempt. That OSU passing offense was No. 2 in the nation in yards per game at just over 387.
Monken's offense took a step back in 2012 but still finished the season No. 5 in the nation in passing yards per game at just under 337. The Cowboys ranked No. 3 in the nation in scoring offense at 45.7 points per game and ranked 11th in yards per carry, once again posting 5.39 per tote.

Lotta folks in this thread upset that Kirby hired a new OC. They seem even more upset that it’s a guy who has been a successful College OC running a high scoring pass happy offense. Most of these upset people still have Gus Mahlzan as their HC...they point to our new OCs record as a HC...have they looked at their new OC?

Semi shocking Kirby had the balls to make the hire. Could thank lsu for this in many aspects.
Get the feeling the rbu Era is over as we knew it. Such is life when change was obviously needed.
Fromm would have gone bonkers in his offense as well.

It doesn't matter who Kirby dupes to UGA. He is the Les Miles of the SEC East. Thus, he can't keep his grubby hands out of the offense. So don't expect anything to change other than Monken to become Kirby's next sacrificial lamb.

Not 2019 Fromm.

Remember when k Bryant and r Wilson both left the acc and improved? Of course you don’t.
You thought K Bryant improved ? The reality of the SEC, even the SECE caught up with him. R Wilson was good at NCS and back then the ACC was a much better league. They at least had more than one team.

So you guys hired a coach who will be teaching a team that's built to run with a dual-threat QB to pass more often?
This will be fun.

Other than your own fantasies, where does this idea come from?

The stats show he improved, even with a much crappier supporting talent ratio.

His passer rating in his final year in the acc was not good, and the acc sucked back then too.

Try rephrasing that to a definitive "this is what I believe is dumb about this hire" statement... that way we can bookmark it.
