WR Sophomore Levi Copelin has been suspended for the entire 2014 season by the NCAA, the school announced Tuesday. In a statement sent to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Copelin said he failed a drug test for an undisclosed supplement banned by the NCAA.

Here's the story link:

He bought an OTC supplement at the mall that is apparently not NCAA approved so they suspended him for a whole damn year. Kind of overkill if you ask me.

The same thing happened to Jeremy Jarmon at UK in what would've been his senior season. Some athletes use supplements like that as masking agents, which is why it's pushed so hard. Just be glad he has eligibility left.

It's as simple as you take the shite your S&C coach gives you so you don't get suspended.

Yeah this kid is suspended the whole season for an over the counter but Ray Rice knocks a woman out and only gets 2 games by the NFL

What a joke.

How important was he?

Sucks that he's suspended the entire year for a simple mistake.

I'm impressed with Pinkel's discipline, some other SEC coaches could learn from him.

No excuses for it, he knew he should have got it approved but just acted like a kid. As far as importance, he is a good athlete and would have seen the field in the rotation as a 2nd stringer. With the losses at WR this year though any WR loss, especially one with game experience is not good.

The suspension is what it is, im not even remotely saying that he shouldnt be suspended but the NCAA is a joke of an organization full of hypocrisy, loopholes and double standards.

Does Mizzou not have people to pee in the testing samples for the athletes? Poors.

Agree on all counts. Sucks he's gone but he has eligibility left.

And he wasn't a starter.

It's all just a smokescreen.

He ghey.

They don't wanna have to endure another season of the whole team having to be in the closet for one guy.

#understandable

This season is gonna be tough enough for Mizzou without all the distractions.

First time was a novelty. Second time is a trend ... best avoided.

Just go with the flow mizzourites, Pinkel is doing what needs to be done. Sometimes you gotta turn off the spigot to prevent the flood.

Don't get me wrong, it sucks. But I guarantee they were given the rundown by their S&C coach and likely trainers as well as to what they can and can't take. The NCAA obviously has issues with consistency when it comes to punishment but this is one of the easier rules to avoid breaking.

ETA: I don't know how Mizzou does it but at other schools you're literally given a list of what you can and can't take. Anything else you were instructed to take to the staff to get approval.

not saying he wouldn't be nice to have playing but I don't see him as anything like a key to the success of our passing game this year.

wonder if this gets appealed?

he was one of the players who got suspended along with DGB, the first time he was caught in a car w/ someone smoking pot. I think he actually dropped on the chart from 2nd to 3rd team, so not real sure how his standing with the coaching staff is these days. Looks like he may have a year to think about it though.

Depends, Copelin was a guy I wanted to get experience this year so he could step in next season. For this years team? Not a huge loss, he was being viewed as 3rd on the depth chart behind 2 seniors, Hunt and Ott.
