Have you ever been to Missouri? That state blows.

Phog.net may not have been as far off as I once thought.

Let me go consult with them.

It has nothing to do with athletics and everything to do with the culture that is stuck 50 years in the past and still harbors and embraces a racist history while wallowing in economic depression and remaining one of the most educationally depressed areas in all the first world.

Which is exactly why you posted it on a sports board, right?

Neither of which are good contributions.

This is a very unfortunate thread IMHO. As a Mizzou alum who was raised in the Bootheel of Missouri, I'm very proud that MU has joined the SEC for many reasons. Our basketball program will be fine, and hopefully our FB will improve over the next 2-3 years. MU has too many resources not to be competitive in the SEC in the future. I for one am proud to be SEC (even if some of y'all don't want us!)

You live in St. Louis. I've been there. It's a fricking dump.

All cities have issues. The Metro area is a vibrant mixing of the Eastern U.S. and the Midwest culturally and is a very affluent area of 3.5 million people.

The schools that didn't were heard loud and clear with their dissenting votes.

The fans didn't make the decision.

Most of the fans wanted a ton of other schools far more than they wanted Mizzou. TAMU, as weird as they are, are far more of a fit for the SEC than Mizzou.

I've met a lot of fans/folks at Chicago/Northwestern, O.St. Michigan, Mich.State & Indiana & while I hate to generalize, those I met were of the snobbish variety. And I can just see them looking down their noses at Mizzou & your fan base. They didn't want you earlier & why should they have changed their minds now? They took Rutgers over you & that should tell you something. As for racism: have you ever seen the public housing projects in Chicago, Colombus & Detroit??? And, btw: nice troll attempt. You really need to study bama's to learn how to really do it.

I'd rather be a mundane midwesterner of moral compass than a happy southern racist

Look--ill agree with you and disagree at the same time..The south does suck at a lot more than it doesn't..We are poor, our economy sucks, there are a lot of racist hicks, and we define our state's worth based on the football team of the state university..I get that..

But still, we are a great athletic conference..tops really, when it comes to most sports combined. And our universities have led the world in research studies and are becoming very recognized worldwide

So, in summation..We still suck, but we're starting to suck a lot less. Capiche?

They offered us a jr membership with a buy in for the B1G network.

The leadership didn't like that deal. Make no mistake though, the B1G most definitely wanted Mizzou then and they wanted us now before Maryland and Rutgers.
