We struggle to recruit against the blue bloods.

Ohio St, OU, and sometimes Oregon and USC poach most of our top talent that we have. If we could convince the top players in Missouri to stay home, and fill in the blanks with some under recruited TX and FL players every year, we would be quite competitive year in and year out.

Just doesn't happen. STL kids truly believe they arent from Missouri, they are from the state of STL. Swear to god.

In basketball, we have enough talent in STL and KC alone to be very good. But when Duke and the other "bluebloods" extend offers, it's easy for them to leave.

The real problem have been the negative exposure. Right now we are pretty much in a better situation than the last few years. This year is make or break for MIZZOU and Barry Odom.

Damn they won the east back to back. Their 2013 team was very good.

When we moved to the SEC, frickin' PINKEL decided to forego all of the hard-earned texass connections and recruit the new SEC territory (FL, GA). GIANT MISTAKE that has taken a few years to overcome/reverse. He left the cupboard somewhat empty of good recruits.

Pinkel was told to leave the program, and there were reasons. His health issue was secondary. He was spending time at his lake house with the new hotty wife. He was there when the "protest crap" hit. He was totally dumb-founded.

Pinkel did a lot of good work, then let it all slide at the end. (Affair, DUI, divorce, new wife.) Thanks GP, but glad he's gone.

Selling Midwest kids on the fact that they have to play in the south, very far away from most family, in order to compete against the best probably isn’t that easy if a sell as they may take offense to it. With the emergence of the big ten as a viable conference again (at least in the east and Wisconsin) they may choose to not buy your message

Until Mizzou breaks open the bank we’re going to be average at best. You gotta pay the players more, like at Bama. Our boosters are amateurs.

And forget Odom. We need a name and we need to pay the bucks for the name.

Neither Kansas nor Missouri produce much football talent. What talent there is usually goes to Oklahoma, Nebraska, or Texas.

My comment was about Auburn taking Georgia kids that can't get into UGA. Do you understand yet?

Nothing Dame owns Chicago. UK does pretty good in OH.

We have to get good recruits out of ill-annoy. We own East StL, thank God. Mizzou's good teams always have a good ill-annoy player or two. Texas has to be our focus, our bread and butter.

No doubt, but it was self-inflicted by Pinkel. (See my earlier post.) It's slowly improving now.

Sounds like New Orleans except we still keep most of the kids.

Very true. StL kids are taught that the Lou is "center of the universe". Kind of like a few on the Rant that think the South is also the "center of the universe".

Well if STL is the center of the universe, then why can’t they stay close to the center of the universe and play for Mizzou?
