Mizzou QB reaches out to Riley for tips vs A&M

“That was a battle,” said Cook about A&M vs. Notre Dame. “One thing I noticed is Texas A&M’s 3rd down and pressure packages look really, really good. I think that’s something me and Riley Leonard talked about on Sunday after the game. He was giving me a couple tips on what to expect.”
Finebaum was quick to pick up on that comment and asked for Cook to elaborate. Mizzou’s star QB explained the 2 met while at the Manning Passing Academy a few years back and have maintained contact ever since. Cook said he messaged Leonard to see if the QB made it through the game healthy, and the topic of A&M’s defense came up.
Leonard offered his own insight to Cook with the Tigers set to face the Aggies later in the season. “I was like yeah that 3rd-down package, I could see they were bringing some different pressures, different fronts, different coverages,” said Cook. “He was like yeah, you might want to stay in 10 personnel, 3 by detached and roll from there. Stay out of empty.”
Very interesting to see the Mizzou QB get coached up the Notre Dame QB. But Riley wasn’t even spectacular in the game. It was 13-13 with 2 minutes left, and most of the offense ran their RB.
Will be an interesting game when we play Mizzou. Our defense should improve as the year goes on.

We rarely get blown out at home. Lost a lot of one score games. Your basically saying your offense will be very explosive against our defense playing at home. Saying our defense, which is usually good, is on par with Murray State is very shortsighted.

Sounds like your OC and QB are too stupid to watch the replay. If you guys get in a pinch, let me know, I can give you something.

Smart move by the kid, get all the help you can, seek every advantage in a game you can get. I like the initiative.
I think our defense did a decent job, 18-30 for 150 yards isn’t getting torched. Offense is what lost us that game.

Agreed—an industrious and ambitious approach.
That’s the kind of leadership you want on a team; it’s not coachable.
Hat’s off to his parents.

Mizzou fans have had their ups and downs with Cook but no one questions his desire to win, leadership or love of Mizzou.

QB friends talk football about a common opponent?

Cook is the one piece keeping this team from being elite. He’s a B+ qb. He missed a wide open Norfleet vs Georgia when he threw an int in the 4th quarter. I love the kid, but he’s not gonna get us to the top.

I think it’s cool their friends but I also think Cook is good enough that he probably doesn’t need tips from Riley and he second guess his instincts in the game bc he remembered something they talked about. But who knows, maybe it can help if he was just confirming what he was seeing.

If we're handing out grades, I'm giving you a D minus as a poster here.

The truth is had we gotten Daniels last year we probably make the playoffs. We beat LSU and we beat Georgia.

Missouri isn’t going to blow us out. This is absurd.

Very astute observation on your part. Had Daniels been on Mizzou's team, we would have beaten the team that actually had him on their roster. I wonder if other teams would have been better as well, with the Heisman on their team?
Stick to your schtick, bluesox, or kcbonetiger, or whatever your tigerboard name is.

I don't even know what this means, but if you don't like it then go back to tigerboard.

It means when you see the butt of another SEC fan you pucker up. It’s embarrassing.
