That's probably incorrect. He was going to be outed, more likely and wanted to control the story. I don't think he is using it as a publicity stunt.

Exactly. I'm not disparaging Sam for being gay. There are pretty references in the Bible about homosexuality, but what the sin is or isn't is not the point.

The point of Jesus teachings is that we are all sinners. No sin is judged heavier than others. Salvation comes from accepting Jesus as your savior, asking for forgiveness and admitting you are a sinner. Through him, he absolves your sins.

Jesus teaches not to judge others, lest we be judged ourselves. So a true Christian would love and respect Sam as a fellow man, and fellow sinner. A true Christian would attempt to lead him to salvation, not condemn or judge his faults.

if all christians adhered to this, really adhered to this, non christians could be more tolerant.

the problem with the "gay being a sin" thing is that, for most, people will never commit this "sin". so, it's easy to tell gays they're going to hell, etc.

now, the adultery thing is hard for many to adhere to, since most of us do have drives and instincts and desires to once maybe just once hit that hot blonde at the office.
so, the collective group of christians just sort of sweep that under the rug.
and im not even going to get started about the 50% divorce rate, of which most of the marriages were performed in a church. where you stated in front of god and man and said "til death do we part".
