The command of what foods to eat was for the Jewish people led under Moses. It was Mosaic Law, which was struck down by Jesus in the New Testament. Christians adhere to the law under Christ, not Mosaic Law.
Jewish people still follow Mosaic Law.

There's no more a "gay" gene as is there a "big boob loving" gene or a "brunette loving " gene. Nor is there a "hey, I love puppies" gene, nor a "i hate puppies" gene.

Any interpretation as to what the bible is about is gonna be confused. A literal interpretation requires adhering to obsolete rules and principles, while taking the message as a whole requires the individual (or church) to discern which parts are important, and which aren't.
