Strictly speaking that he went through the NBA draft and then played pro ball overseas is against NCAA rules.
And certainly against the spirit of those rules.
The international pro basketball player stuff is just a mess. I guess Five For Five is trying to make some attempt to clean it up.
The spirit of the rule was always that 17-19 year old foreign players really had little choice about whether to be pros in their countries or not. And that the level they played -- mainly B teams etc -- wasn't any higher than what American players of that age were playing.
That all goes out the window when coaches here started seeking and being granted exceptions for 23yo players that had been starters in top Euro leagues for years. Or Breakout Player of the Year in the top Italian league. etc. . .
The Mizzou player's example is actually the same exception that caused Bediako to unsuccessfully sue: That there was little real difference in a player going through the NBA draft and then playing pro overseas instead of the G League.
I agree. Bediako or NBA draft and then foreign pro player should not be eligible.

Ole Miss planning on signing Micah Handlogten and former Florida International guard Corey Stephenson.
Stephenson got paid by the Detroit pistons.

Not sure that it matters really, but he did only make $550 from this league in Canada.

Says the guy whose QB is ineligible under NCAA rules and is only playing because of an injunction from a Mississippi judge. LOL.

Rumors surfacing the SEC presidents (sans Missouri) will meet next week to vote on a new bylaw that makes it a violation to field a team based in the state of Missouri.
Punishable by expulsion.
I hear they have the votes.
The funny thing is… this is actually how the bylaws currently work.
I think the SEC will ultimately receive a permanent injunction that forces it to write new bylaws, because the current bylaws facilitate restriction of free trade & exclusionary measures with severe economic consequences — without evidence or arbitration.
