Mitch Barnhart...What an idiot

He hitched his wagon to a .500 football coach and neglected giving basketball what it needed.
Now Kentucky is in basketball hell.
Thank goodness a quality institution saw the potential in Cal and gave him the resources he needed to win.

So are we cheap or is this roster $22 million? I’m confused.

Cal stopped getting resources funneled to him by the boosters. He alienated all of them. It was his own fault for being an arrogant prick, and good riddance to his greasy arse.
Mitch is also an idiot, but not for the reasons you listed.

Can't spend your way out of a ditch.
The embarrassment of Cal leaving has set back Kentucky for decades. It's how you ended up with Mark Pope and not a quality pedigreed coach as a replacement.

Then what resources is it that Pope doesn’t have? You can’t have it both ways in your criticism.

Cal leaving got us out of lifetime contract and will allow us to boot Pope after next season with ease. Also expedited Barnhart’s retirement. That’ll benefit UK in the long run.

Seems dumb on their part. He's doing pretty well with resources here. Actually he seems like the exact guy you would want if you have cash to throw around in the new NIL era. Just my opinion, not trolling.

I'm willing to give pope one more year, but he needs to retain chandler, mo, moreno, maybe jelevic, and Hawthorne.
The next 4 weeks will tell us whether or not Pope can succeed here

Barnhart should have been gone when he was found to be covering up for the swim coach who sexually assaulted female swimmers.
The fact that Barnhart never got fired for that just screams corruption in our athletic department.

They are going to hire barnharts JMI friend to be AD and we will continue to fall behind everyone else. Fans will revolt

Cal's strategy those last few years at KY of having mostly one and done freshman carrying the team is what killed him there imo.

To be fair, Pope has had terrible injury luck in his 2 years but zero excuse for investing in Quaintence. Fella tore his ACL last March and convinced everyone he would be a full go for conference play.

I don’t what all the problems are but they should be producing better results than that we are seeing now.

And Pope is not even his worst basketball hire. Billy Gillispie was a bad drunk and Barnhart not only hired him with no vetting but he let Billy coach for two years under a MOU with no morals clause.

So this Cal wasn’t getting the resources at UK is disingenuous. He had multiple NBA draft picks and McDonalds All Americans on his teams and still lost to 13 and 14 seeds.
It wasn’t resources. It was complacency. He won purely on talent.

Mitch isn't bricking shots and turning the ball over. Louisville isn't any better. Both teams have a bunch of old fossils who pump money , that are pompous, and live in 1985. Sorta like Alabama football was from 1983-2006. Too much living in the past bullshite.

Plus freed up money to buy out Stoops.
But I will say Barnhart screwed the pooch.
