Which is brighter?

Missouri has an established coach, who seems to have changed his philosophy a bit. A weak recruiting class, and a season that hinges on everything.

Tennessee has a new coach, a new philosophy, a slightly better recruiting class, and a season that hinges on the future.

Given historical data, I'd say Tennessee has a better chance to excel in the near future, at least in the east. But, if Missouri has a decent season, 8-4 or so, that may change some things.

I ask this because I see Tennessee as the program most similar to Mizzou in the east. Before you jump on the past history stuff, I'm talking right now, where we both stand with recruiting and current rosters.

All things being equal where will each program be in 5 years?

THE frickING RECRUITING NUMBERS ARE BASED OFF OF LAST YEAR YOU TOOTHLESS frickS.

Umm Tennessee's recruiting class is number 2 in the country right now.

THye could rehire Lane Kiffin and still fare better than Mizzou over the next four years.

Depends on how you view parts of the equation

Tennessee has the facilities and just needs a coach

Missouri may have a coach but they need the facilities

I was referencing last years class. I don't put much into this years class until signing day.

I know that Alabama fans love to act like Tennessee is worth a shite but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Tennessee. Nicer facilities, more history and tradition, nicer city.

Exactly, they have been awful for 5 years now. And this recruiting class is not gonna end at number 2 if they don't win an SEC game

Tennessee, no doubt. They have a future as an SEC Big 6 member.

Mizzou has a future as a middle of the road Big Ten program

JMO...Pinkel isn't Mizzou's SEC future, he's your B12 past. Dude needs to go, the longer you wait the longer the rise will be, see UT & Fulmer.... That said Good Luck...

Pinkel is fine, Saban would of had a bad year with all of MU's problems last year. The coaching carousal game isn't worth it.

Missouri in state talent is on the upswing, in the coming years it will be a major cataclysmic difference than it was in the past. Two major metro areas, plus a solid rural area. Youth football has boomed in the last decade in the state of Missouri.

While I tend to agree with you, he's afforded himself some leeway, and a chance to right the ship. I'm not sold on everything just yet, but I like the new OC Josh Henson. He seems to have a feel for the clock, which is huge in this league.

The prior OC had absolutely zero feel for the flow of the game and how to use the clock. GP puts a lot of faith in his coaches, to a fault. Hopefully, in this case it will work out.

While Auburn is now an SEC bottom feeder.

Makes sense...

I think Butch Jones can close top 5 classes in the conference year in year out, especially with talent of metro Nashville area surpassing metro Memphis area. If you have top 5 talent in the conference you WILL compete for conference championships.

Missouri's 2014 class has 24 recruits and zero 4*. that tells you all you need to know.

Pinkel has shown an ability to find 2 and 3 star gems. That won't change, they have a system and they adhere to it.

It works for them.

But you're right, generally, a well coached team of 4 and 5* guys will beat almost anyone.

The only question that remains is, will Butch coach those 4 and 5* guys to their abilities?

Tennessee and it's not even close. Give the program time to recover from Dooley. Missouri never has shown the ability to recruit.
