The bad news for OU and Texas, they will be in the SEC West and not the piece of cake SEC East.

IF Missouri and aTm (Big 12 perennial losers) can be somewhat successful in the SEC, then ANYBODY can be successful in the SEC.

With AU and Bama joining UGA and UF, the East is the new Beast..LSU/OU will alternate winning the west.

Those Arkansas teams were trash.
2013 we went 3-9 (0-8 in SEC)
2014 we went 7-6 (2-6 in SEC). Did lay a beat down on Texas that year.
Not sure how you can say those Arkansas teams were legit. We haven’t been legit since Petrino crashed and Mizzou hasn’t been legit since Pinkel retired. SECE was straight trash homie the year Mizzou snuck out the East

A&M was on a 56 year top 5 dry spell until they joined the SEC. 2 in their first 10 years since becoming members.
The SEC is just what we needed.

Their first Top 5, 2012 (a year in which they finished #3 in the SEC West and #5 in the SEC overall, FYI), led to an appearance in the Cotton Bowl against the co-champions on the Big XII, Oklahoma. They won that game 41-13.
So, yea, I'm sure they would have struggled mightily in the BXII that year.
Texas lost to Oklahoma by 42 points that year, FYI.

Yet Missouri fans talk shite to OU.
A&M and Missouri. Neither able to compete in the Big 12 and now living off their association with Alabama and LSU.
What a pathetic way to go about your life.
Will never understand why the SEC settled for those mediocre programs. Guess it was no different than settling for South Carolina and Arkansas. At least Arkansas had a few glory years 50 years ago…

Yea, they were a damn good team. Perfect storm of talent Sherman had signed (4 first round OL, Evans at WR), elite offensive coaching from Kingsbury, first year coach "juice" from Sumlin, a QB who fit the scheme perfectly in Manziel and in large part a SEC whose defenses were still built roster wise to stop early 2000s and 1990s offenses.

Actually I know why they settled for those programs. Ten years ago clueless executives thought it was all about media markets.
Now they understand that media markets don’t translate into viewers. Getting Missouri was nothing short of a short sighted business decision which failed miserably.

That statement is a tautology.
How did your boy chicken legs Darren McFadden do in the league? You know the guy who rolled through the SEC and Arkansas fans thought was leaps and bounds better than Adrian Peterson?
Someone might have advised the guy to not skip leg day.

This might be the most honest thing I have ever seen an Alabama fan post.
Believe me, nobody in the SEC dared say that back on the ‘00s and early ‘10s.
It took A&M and Missouri to show you that modern offenses were in fact harder to defend. We kept saying it but of course your SEC arrogance refused to believe it.
Now we routinely see scores in the 40’s in SEC games. Even ‘Bama routinely gives up tons of points.
But the narrative was set and moving to those offenses early harmed the Big 12’s ability to recruit defensive talent.

Arkansas won the SWC 1988 and 1989 in football then joined SEC in 1992 so we weren’t bad then. We went on the win the SECW in 1995.
Arkansas basketball went to the final 4 in 1990. Elite 8 in 1991. Joined the SEC in 1992.
Went on to win the NC in 1994 and runner up in 1995.
Safe to say our big 2 sports were far more strong prior to us joining the SEC than OU and Texas combined.
Arkansas athletic department is much much stronger than OU. You are decent at football that is it.
Texas has a solid athletic department. Not good at football but better than OU at everything else

Lol the irony of you being on this board talking shite just grows by the day.
But hey… if all the successful teams from your soon to be non-existent conference joined the SEC I can get why you wanna be on the same board as them. Cheers to the MWC buddy

McFadden did great in the SEC.
Not sure your point with that comment. His years were 2005-2007 so have nothing to do with Mizzou.

But the narrative was set and moving to those offenses early harmed the Big 12’s ability to recruit defensive talent.
LSU had the most spread offense friendly defense in the 2000s/early 2010s because Chavis liked having smaller LBs that were fast. The rest of us recruited players to stop the offenses we played, which were mostly old school "pro-style" (1 back, 3-4 WR, etc.). Not exactly 1980s i-formation stuff, but 1 HB, TE, H-back, play action roll outs, etc. We had great defensive players, but we weren't equipped roster wise to play linebackers in space. It showed in 2012 against A&M and then again in 2013 vs Auburn and 2014 vs Auburn/Ohio State. By that point in 2014 we'd started recruiting different types of players on defense, but they were still freshmen and sophomores. Those guys turned into the 2015-2017 defenses that had something like 10-11 1st round picks on them.
Even with that, it only generally manifested itself against great spread offenses who had elite QBs who could run, pass and do things off schedule (Cam and Manziel being the poster children). Contrary to popular believe, we dominated most of the spread offenses we played. But the best ones gave us trouble, and they'll keep giving teams trouble moving forward to some degree or another because the game is slanted towards their success. And that's why in 2014 Saban decided he had to become more explosive on offense and gave Kiffin the keys to the kingdom to establish the new Alabama offense.
