That's just a coincidence.

It really amuses me to hear this every year.

First of the year and throughout most of the season, he's not that great of a coach and fits in perfect at ol' MSU.

Then he bounces up and secures a bowl bid, some high profile schools fire their 2nd, 3rd or 4th coach in a row, then he is the hottest commodity on the coaching market.

I'm sure he might leave someday, but I can almost guarantee you that he does not want to be in the SEC in his next job.

But please, feel free to regurgitate the same story we have heard since he started taking us to bowl games.

I can easily see him taking the UF job for a challenge; IF he is getting bored in Starkville,

UF would be the last place he would go, nothing to do with the school but more to do with the AD, family, and history.

Scott Stricklin is not only a MSU alum and former AD, his FIL is a hall of fame former player and one of our most influential boosters. Scott has his sights set high and there was no bad blood for him leaving MSU and he is well liked in Starkville, however he burns every bridge he ever has had and faces some frigid nights at home if he poaches the muffin man.

Just not worth it for him

Bailey E. Howell (born January 20, 1937) is an American former professional basketball player. He played twelve seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Howell was a 6'7" forward at Mississippi State University. Despite playing at the college level for only three years, he set and still holds Mississippi State records for single-game points scored, career scoring average, single-season and career free throws made, single-season and career free throws attempted, single-game free throw percentage, single-game rebounds, single-season rebounds, career rebounds, and single-season and career rebounding average. His scoring records are particularly impressive, since there was no three-point line or shot clock at the time that he played. He is considered a legend to the Bulldog basketball faithful, and one of the best-known players to have played at MSU. He is probably most known for his hook shot, rebounding ability, and work ethic as a player and person.

Howell played 12 seasons (1959–1971) in the NBA as a member of the Detroit Pistons, Baltimore Bullets, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers. A six-time All-Star with 17,770 career points, he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997. He won two NBA championships with the Boston Celtics. The best years of his career were during his time with the Celtics and the Pistons.

After his career ended, he went to work with the Converse shoe company, particularly with the Converse All-Star. He resides in Starkville, Mississippi where he is very active in Mississippi State athletics fund-raising, specifically the Bulldog Club, an organized fund to pay for MSU athletic scholarships. He currently serves as an elder for the Starkville church of Christ.

On February 7, 2009 Howell's jersey (#52) was retired at halftime of the Mississippi State versus University of Arkansas game. Bailey is the first MSU basketball player to have his jersey retired. A banner displaying his number and years of play is now on permanent display in the Humphrey Coliseum.

The Bailey Howell Award is given annually to best collegiate basketball player in the state of Mississippi. The bronze statue that is awarded each year was designed by J. Kim Sessums.

The gymnasium at Middleton (TN) High School bears his name.

He is the father of Mississippi Board of Realtor's CEO Beth Hansen and father-in-law of current Florida Athletic Director, Scott Stricklin.

The street huh???

I heard on the street that Kelly got his DUI so he wouldn't have to face Jeffery Simmons.

imo, mullens should stay at MSU. he's happy and they are happy plus they are paying him a ton of money. leaving would be stupid unless he has a problem. Mullen is the best couch MSU has ever had.

His last 4 years win total is going to be 10,9,6, and either 9 or 10 depending on the bowl game. Yea, tell us more about how meh that is, Mr. Ole Miss fan.

Don't be surprised if ole miss beats state in the egg bowl. I fully expect that to happen. Ole miss, even though they are about to get slammed, does have talent on offense. Ole miss is still the big program in the state too. They own the overall record, have more money, cheat much better even though they suck at it, have a little more fan support, have prettier women, and still see themselves as daddy to msu. Ole miss sees msu fans as second rate citizens for some reason too. Ole miss will beat miss state, I'm calling it now, even though state seems to have a better team this year.

It sure is a possibility. Yall should start allen this week at qb. Cole kelly just isn't ready yet. Thag motherfrickin looks like a linemen lol, he reminds me of jared lorenzen at uk back in the day. Miss state blew their load against bama and ended up getting their hearts ripped out. It wouldn't shock me one bit if they lose to arky and ole miss to close the reg season.

Meghan Mullen loves Starkville. She and Dan live next to 2 retired NFL players and a NBA player. She gets it anytime she wants it.

Idk man, I would be worried about how msu comes ready to play this week. They really were up for this game vs bama and played lights out even thought they lost the game, they played almost flawlessly. It's really tough to get a team to play with that intensity two weekends in a row, even if they win the game. Perfect example is the georgia game earlier in the season, after playing lights out vs lsu, miss state got stomped the next game. I expect that to be the case this week after their performance vs bama. Idk if arky will win or not, but I expect a really close game.

Lol, what are u talking about? Hahaha. What is your prediction for ole miss vs miss state? How do you see the game playing out? I expect ole miss to win the game myself. Stick a fork in state, they're well done.
