I don't understand how one can willfully leave a dog alone for 2-3 days (or w/e it was in the story). Also, dogs are bit of work so having a dog as a student also seems weird -- particularly as a football player who may have even less time to spend with a dog.

I'd like to think that there is a life lesson to be learned here, but honestly the only lesson I see is that the dude should have neither kids nor animals.

Like half the people I knew in college that lived off campus either had a dog or one of their roommates did. Several athletes as well. But none of them were a big enough POS to neglect it

Then give him Bully or whatever your mascot's name is and let him have a go at taking care of him. Let's see how you feel then.

While I was at school at the end of the school year the animal shelter would get a ton of drop off of dogs, cause the puppy they got grew up and it was "too much to handle" and the person would just forget about the dog. I've seen that happen at several colleges.

The fact remains the guy did a shitty thing and needs to pay.

It wasn't his dog. it was his girlfriends dog. She moved to Tennessee. He said he would look after it.

She has to be equally as stupid to leave a dog with a football player in an apartment.

Also it was a great dane. Why do you have a great dane in an 800 square foot apartment.

Future serial killer and his POS coach didn’t even kick him off the team.

That’s disgusting and inexcusable on both accounts.

After Terrence “Mount” Cody’s incident we Bama fans lost morale high ground on animal cruelty.

You are alibiing for bad behavior. Any dog, any apartment, any person, this is unacceptable behavior. The MSU fans should be screaming the loudest since it makes the School and the program look like shite. It goes beyond someone who hits their girlfriend. The girlfriend can shoot a gun or have a brother whip their arse. The dog doesn't have many options. I wonder how many players were standing around while the dog was getting beaten ?

NO i'm not. HE is a POS for doing this. I just want to point out that the girl clearly didn't have good judgement either. Hopefully she learns that not everyone is trustworthy. She said that she couldn't look after the dog while she moved and was working in a new job. Yet she thought a football player in a tiny apartment would look after him? He couldn't even pay rent. I guess she just drastically misjudged the dude's character because is a huge POS for volunteering to look after the dog and then neglecting him. I don't think he should ever reproduce.

I would just like to point out that she probably isn't responsible enough to own a dog either. A responsible dog owner would pay for someone to dogsit while they work or be a better judge of character of who is watching the dog.

Hell face time with him and the dog. It is the 21st century not 1970. Hell, I have a friend that has a camera setup with a screen and she can check on the dog in real time and talk to him and give him a treat from anywhere in the world as long as she has cellphone service.

to be fair I don't trust anyone but a few family members, and maybe 3 others to look after my dog. They are all dog owners. I wouldn't trust anyone that doesn't own a dog to look after my best friend.

Sounds like Moorhead drastically misjudged the dude's character. HE IS STILL ON THE TEAM. What message does that send to the world about Moorhead and MSU?

Arkansas. We purged half the roster - and they weren't cruel to animals - just the game of football.
