You mean the QB MSU wanted to buy? The one where all of your richest boosters got together and couldn't come up with 6 figures between them to change the entire trajectory of the second place school in the worst state in America?

Yeah I remember him.

Actually on the field the series is:

Auburn 60
State 29
Ties 3

The NCAA in their bogus ways made us forfeit 2 wins and a tie from 1975 - 1977 because a football player received a clothing discount at a local store that was available to all students.

Obviously, Auburn has a big edge but State since about 1990 has been not been an automatic win anymore for Auburn. Auburn should win Saturday but it will not be a major upset at all if State wins the game.

You cheated and played a player that the NCAA told you to sit. You did not suspend them.. Having said that, forfeits suck...

The NCAA declared Gillard ineligible for the 1975 season but Coach Tyler decided to fight the ruling by filing suit with the Chancery Court, which gave him an injunction allowing Gillard to play. The Bulldogs went on to a 6-4-1 record that year including a win over LSU in Baton Rouge.

Gillard continued to play in 1976. For only the third time in the history of MSU football, the Bulldogs won 9 games; only losing to Florida and Alabama. Wins included Auburn, LSU and OM. State finished third in the SEC that year.

1977 was the same story – Gillard played. The Dawgs went 5-6 and won the Egg Bowl.

Gillard’s case was tried before the Mississippi Supreme Court which MSU did not win. The appeal was lost, and all games Gillard played in were forfeited by MSU.

The sad news is that had Coach Tyler accepted the original punishment of being suspended for the 1975 season, Gillard would have been eligible for ’76 and ’77.

Auburn will likely run away with this one, but I'll be pulling for State. Why? Because Auburn. They're the worst school in the SEC. Worse than Missouri. They walk around beating their chest like they're the King or something? And why? Just because their big brother is Alabama. Somehow, Auburn gets a sense of entitlement from the fact that their big brother is really good at football. For as long as I can remember, Auburn sucks at basketball, baseball, and football for about 9 out of every 10 years. But Alabama is good at football every year! Somehow that's a win in their minds. It's weird. They are the entire reason the phrase "little brother" exists in college football.

State is currently a double-digit road dog (10.5 points). Yeah, it wouldn't be shocking if they won, but it would be a pretty big upset.

Save your Auburn melt for the Auburn-Arkansas game. MSU doesn't need you to grind for them.

Forget the point spread. Generally speaking this has been a competitive series over the last 10 years. Yes each has won some double digit games but if it is a close game and State wins it, it would not be shocking nor would it be a major upset.

State is no longer an automatic win for Auburn.

Yep that is correct but the case was so absurd that Coach Tyler knew we would win it and how the school lost it is still beyond ridiculous even to this day.

That is why he fought it and let Gillard play because the whole thing was a sham.

, State has two wins over Auburn by double digits in the last twenty years. One by 14 and one by 18

In the last 3 years alone Auburn has wins over State by 24 and 39

State fans are so cute when they twist facts to try and seem on par with other programs

Ha, I'm on record in more than 1 thread stating the this won't even be a good game.

JoMo needs to sit the 10 suspended players and focus on leaving Auburn healthy. We play Auburn every year, and neither team is winning the West. We need to be smart about the roster and just take our medicine
