The arrest was for not showing up in court, but you are correct. Seatbelt laws make so much sense. Motorcyclists don't have to wear helmets any longer in Missouri, but safety first.

Why would he even need to show up in court for a seatbelt ticket? If he fails to show then verdict is guilty and assessed a fine.

He got the ticket in a small town that probably sustains itself off the revenue they get from ticketing people passing through with bullshite. He very likely wouldn't need to show up in court, just make a simple phone call or go online and pay it. He missed the deadline to pay and also didn't show up to court, which was really dumb on his part.
