I remembered Pennington but couldn't recall this name.
I can't remember what game that he had significant snaps in but I'm pretty sure I cried.

Yep. This is his first year at Oklahoma State.

Did he ever get shite from the fanbase for leaving Prothro in the game to long? Kid was electric.

I remember Brandon Averwhatever came in one game and I thought, Shula must've got caught banging his Mom....
and yet they still managed winning records vs the State of Mississippi.

Definitely. The score was like 28-3 in the 4th and we were passing the fricking ball with the starters in.
The catch Prothro made against USM is still the best one I have ever seen, and I'm not even saying that as a Gump.

He did, but in those days Alabama was known for wilting horribly in the 4th quarter anyway. As such, having the starters in in the early 4th quarter made sense.
As you saw from the MSU vs. LSU game, it's quite easy to gag away a big lead, and for Shula it probably would have been much easier than for most coaches.
Was a freak injury, it happens.
Besides, there's a billion other things you can point out he did terribly instead, they aren't hard to find.

In all fairness, Shula was handed a gigantic shitstorm and he did the best he could. I hold no enmity towards him (but I sure as frick do for Franchione) and his goose-egg against API is what allowed Saban to come.

Good to know, always felt bad for that kid. Didn't yall have a player who's last name was Bacon. My friends used to always say "that kid would of been a legend at Arkansas".

Again.
Seriously, I always thought Shula did a good job of getting the program from point A to point B...i.e. being a caretaker until sanctions expired, when no one any better wanted the job...but he was never going to be anything more than that.

Mike Shula works for the NFL Panthers and is the QB coach for Cam Newton. I think that has worked out just fine.
Shula might not have been the best coach at Bama, but I think we all know thats a unique deal.

Oh I saw what the OP did right away, but it's more fun to make fun of Shula and our Darby up the middle offense. Yall remember when Shula would get creative and make our power I really powerful and have McClain at FB and Castille at RB? Never really worked either sadly.

Yea I like the guy, and I'm glad he's found success. I'm also glad that he went 10-2 one year at Alabama because it proved a blind mouse could win 10 games here.
