Yeah it’s been a weird month for me as well. I just got done doing my mom’s celebration of life yesterday. She was 61 too. It still doesn’t feel real. Hopefully Leach can pull through. I don’t know all the inside information though.

Sorry to hear that, Lew. My dad is 60, my mom is 58 and she's had 5 heart bypasses already. George Clooney once said life is cruel, you either die young or live to see all your loved ones die. Grief is the price we pay for love.

I've been a fan of ML for a very long time. After he was fired from Texas Tech and before the Wazzu job, he and Jake Arute had a call in show on Sirius for a few years and really become fond of his personality and delivery. He's a very smart guy outside of football. I sure hope and pray he makes it although it's not looking good according to the rumor mill.

So if he had pneumonia, could a PE have caused the heart attack?

This is way oversimplified but a PE is a blockage in an artery of the lungs that prevents gas exchange. Blood can’t get past the clot for the gas exchange to occur. You see them when people sit for long periods like over the road truckers or long flights. They’re also why doctors have you up and walking as quick as possible after surgery. A heart attack is when an artery in the heart is blocked and blood can’t reach that part of the heart. Usually that’s from coronary artery disease. Pneumonia is an infection where fluid fills the lungs and inhibits gas exchange.

None are usually direct causes of the others but all of them can lead to cardiac arrest by depriving the heart of enough oxygen for it to continue functioning, which is what we are really talking about. We all use the term “heart attack” colloquially as a synonym for cardiac arrest but they aren’t the same thing. In a heart attack, the heart is still pumping blood. In cardiac arrest it isn’t.

Why folks should do the legal documents on their 40th birthday. Always amazed how many have no living will and no DNR decisions. Makes it that much harder on the person who gets tasked.

Just had this conversation with some of our friends. They thought we were crazy for having a will and trust fund for our kids. Once I explained the why, they said they were going to look into it.

Yeah it seemed like he posted it without much thought the way he worded it. I know Lane's gonna be really messed up over this if he doesn't pull through. I feel horrible for the State program. This is a nightmare.

Honestly, I believe it comes from people that are too young to fully appreciate life and how quickly it can be taken.
