Football brings in the money to pay for all the other sports. If you deny this then you are living in a dream world.

And no, I don't believe Ole Miss and Mississippi State should be kicked out of the conference, I'm simply arguing that their fans have an overinflated opinion of their worth to the conference.

UF would not want to elevate those two schools.

"Charter membership" has been mentioned a few times.
I wonder whether or not any of you would be in favor of bringing back Sewanee, Georgia Tech, and Tulane?

Football is the Yankee earner of the conference. The rest are charity.

USF was ranked as high as #2 in the nation back in 2007. How long has it been since Ole Miss was ranked that high?

#4 in 2009 and we were #1 in baseball a few years ago.

Just curious.

Side note: Apart from the SEC (1932), the only remaining original "pre-modern era" conferences that remain (original names) are: Big Ten (1896). Mid-American (1946), Atlantic Coast (1953), Sun Belt (1976), and American Athletic (1979).

Auburn and Florida have won probably half the SEC titles in the last 25 years

Since Florida won 8 SEC titles and none of them are shared, any of us claiming to pair with them and own "half the SEC titles in the last 25 years" are being just a bit disingenuous.

In fact, going strictly by SEC titles in the last 25 years, neither Alabama, auburn, nor LSU can make a clear claim to being in the lead. All of us have 5 SEC titles and all of us need a shared title (1988 or 1989) to add up to 5...so the real claim is "Florida is the clear leader in SEC titles over the last 25 years, and several of us in the West are tied for second place."

Yep. The idea is ridiculous. The conference identity as a whole would be diminished if we kicked out either Mississippi school, IMO. Ain't happening. Mizzoo or A&M would be kicked out before either of those two schools.

As an A&M fan, we're just happy to be here.

Because it is how business works.

Get rid of Arky and Mizzou.

No one in the $100 million revenue club is getting dump (Arkansas)
2 Top 100 TV markets

Back to back worst seasons in 100 years and without stadium expansion included. Slive love his $100 million club teams.

Missouri $73 million
3 Top 100 TV markets

Mississippi can't even get into the $100 million club with two teams
1 Top 100 TV market

Mississippi and MSU get dumped then Vanderbilt which gives us three slots. Business is what it is, Business.

*Sometimes you need logistics and the Mississippi schools provide this. They aren't going anywhere.

UCF and USF are worse in every category, including academics.

If you dump Vanderbilt, everything conference related is now subject to FOIA. Private vs. Public, remember?

Wow, hogs are stupid.
