Footing? We've always been independent of one another. We're virtually equal in assets.

Arkansas does not have more tv viewers than MS.

We have more fans from within our state, more alumni outside of our state in multiple top 25 markets (OKC, Dallas, KC) and double the top 100 in-state TV markets as well. We even have more hated rivals outside of the SEC than both Mississippi schools who love to watch us loose.

Arkansas > Mississippi

Not to mention a much better recent history and nationally recognized brand.

I have no clue what this means. But collegiate athletics is going to get bigger & bigger, not smaller. Slive went on the offensive, rather than wait for the crumbs. And I'd bet he's not done. Missouri may seem forced to you, but they were a good, contiguous get. I agree with you that North Carolina and Virginia are the obvious next moves.

No one can say with certainty that college athletics will get bigger and bigger. It's just like any other business and is susceptible to ups and downs many outside factors will determine the growth or decline of college football especially. Population growth or lack thereof, ethnicities, and economic factors all will play a role in the future of college athletics. Hell we're in uncertain times right now with the threat of lawsuits and possibly paying players.

Two years removed from the Paterno days bro. The sky is falling in Arkansas and it's not due to Global Warming. . Your athletic department is a shame on all fronts right now and that's a fact.

Get your shite together Arky

That is the absolute truth.
But were I in Vegas right now, and the roulette wheel showed bigger and not-bigger, rather than red and black, I'd put everything I owned on bigger.

I didn't know Jimmy was from Greenville.

Kermit and I share some blood plus lots of my family is from eastern Ark. I'll be damned, you learn something new every day.

Side Note: The new bridge going from Lake Village, Ark to Greenville, MS sure is nice.

Kinda a neat picture behind the old historic Arkansas plantation.

Both OM and State have done an awful lot in their respective fields of research. Even compared to some other SEC institutions.

What? Cousin breeding and animal husbandry?

ND would be an AMAZING addition to the SEC.

Yes they are way up in the mid-west but ND would practically assure that the SECN was on basic cable in damn near every state in the lower 48.

And at more than the 25 cent non-footprint rate.

We'd be bailing money over bailing money.

Not sure how this thread has gotten over 10 pages. I have one question, when was the last time a school from any major conference was dumped?

Schools have left conferences, but not sure I remember any getting kicked out.

Temple getting booted from the Big East is the only time I can really remember a school getting kicked out of a conference.
